Better Cotton initiative (BCI) is a not-for-profit organization which registered in 2009 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with regional offices in China, India, Pakistan and London. We currently have over 800 members come from producer organizations, suppliers and manufacturers (ginners, traders, spinners, mills, cut and sew), retailers and brands, and we’re still growing fast.

Main tasks of BCI are to work with a diverse range of stakeholders to promote Better Cotton growing projects worldwide in accordance with BCI Production Principles and Criteria, making measurable and continuing improvements for the environment, farming communities and the economies of cotton producing areas; to facilitate circulation of Better Cotton in the whole supply chain. The final aim of BCI is to transform cotton production worldwide by developing Better Cotton as a sustainable mainstream commodity. Our objective is to achieve 30% share of global cotton production by 2020.
