Summary:

Responsible for leading the EHS function, to manage projects and coordinate training at our site. Directly reporting to the Plant Manager, liaising with Engineering Supervisor and heads of other departments and indirectly reporting to the NBTY Senior EHS Director. This position includes implementation, training, periodic updating and auditing of a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety Management System to ensure on the job safety of associates and overall safety and environmental compliance. This position includes the coordination of projects to meet business developments needs and control of the capital expenditure budget. Also responsible for coordination of general training activities for overall associate development.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the site’s Environmental Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and procedures and ensure they comply with applicable safety laws and regulations as well as with corporate guidelines.

2. Perform health and safety inspection audits and reviews investigation reports to ensure that corrective actions will eliminate recurrence and unsafe acts/conditions as well as to comply with regulations/standards.

3.Implement accident investigation, data analysis, and recurrence prevention programs and procedures.

4. Maintain compliance with current health and safety legislation and/or regulations with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of staff and visitors.

5. Ensure that all regulations and codes are maintained throughout the plant facility and at all levels under the direction of the Plant Manager & EHS Director.

6. Ensure that all equipment meets safety regulations and that all equipment and tools are used correctly by all personnel, and that all areas used by associates, customers, vendors, must be free of hazards at all times.

7. Ensures that all safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, hard hats, gloves, and ergonomic devices must be available and in good working condition.

8. Interfaces with regulatory agencies, committee members and staff to formulate corrective actions.

9. Delivers or coordinates training for personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, work place inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures in the plant facility.

10. Works with other departments and outside agencies to coordinate other training activities as required and decided to continuously improve associates’ knowledge, understanding and motivation as well as site team spirit.

11. Monitor resources needed for successful completion of projects needed and planned for business development.

12. Set and track capital expenditure budget as coordinated with site management and teams as well as with headquarters.

13. Identify internal and external support needed for identifying and executing projects to improve existing operations.

14. Directly liaise with headquarters on implementation of major projects involved in expansion of business scope and lead coordination of on-site activities.

15. Manage daily tracking during the execution of ongoing projects including safety, quality, cost and timing.

16. Propose opportunities in line with general operational objectives set by the site, for market development and as required for corporate enhancement.

17. Complete other assignments as required and as given by Supervisor.

Experience:

· 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred

· Experience with regulatory agencies preferred

Education, Certification, Licenses & Registrations:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Skills:

· Knowledge of consumer goods manufacturing processes

· Knowledge of EHS disciplines, sciences and regulations.

· Ability to assess potential risks and to quickly identify appropriate corrective actions.

· A good understanding of business operations.

· Highly motivated and self-directed, with strong influencing and leadership skills.

· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines as well as to work effectively in a team

· Ability to energize others to work toward the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.

· Strong change management skills to drive and sustain improvement in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.

· Excellent written communication, presentation and computer skills.

· Fluent command of spoken and written English.

Physical Demands:

Able to work overtime and weekends as demanded by project schedule
