Sourcing Manager – Wartsila Yuchai Engine Company
Wartsila Yuchai Engine Company, the joint venture owned 50/50 by Wartsila and Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd, was established in May 2013 in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province China. WYEC will manufacture medium speed marine engines to serve the increasing dominant Chinese shipbuilding industry. The products to be produced by WYEC include the Wartsila 20; Wartsila 26 and Wartsila 32 series of Medium speed engines. Production is planned to start mid of 2014.
The position directly report to: Managing Director Wartsila Yuchai Engine Company.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Sourcing Manager is responsible for sourcing of external suppliers to meet the business requirements. He or she is expected to collect & report on supplier performance. Communicate and maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
Typical Roles and Responsibilities
1）Develop sourcing strategy, based upon Wartsila joint ventures sourcing and localization experience, together with WECC and WSM to plan the localization plan including a step by steps approach.
2）Ensure that all sourcing needs are fulfilled which include the evaluation, qualification, selection, contracts and management of local suppliers.
3）Responsible for secure the resource plan involving in the whole localization processes; ensure that sourcing targets are met.
4）Communicate business activities, targets and requirements among all the stakeholders.
5）Collect and report supplier performance, compliance and issues related.
6）Ensure that sourcing data at ERP, PDM, finance and other systems are correct.
7）Support the development and implementation of global category sourcing strategies.
8）Manage local suppliers that are not managed by globally by category teams.
9）Develop expertise and knowledge of local suppliers.
10）Implement sourcing projects with local suppliers, maintains site sourcing project portfolio.
11）Ensure that local suppliers adhere to Wartsila Supplier Code of Conduct.
12）Utilize common sourcing processes and tools. Provide support in developing processes and tools.
Qualification
1）Minimum 5-8 years of sourcing management experience. Strong interpersonal skills.
2）Strong background and working knowledge of strategic sourcing, localization of relevant industry.
3）Strong knowledge of Logistics Systems and Supply Chain Management. Good Knowledge of ERP systems and business management tools.
4） Working knowledge/ experience with pricing processes for engine parts; Working knowledge of competence management.
5）Good general business acumen and Good exposure to shipbuilding industry
