ABOUT THE POSITION

Chemical Engineering Department works as the bottom technical center of Columbia footwear, takes the lead on the bottom innovations, drives the green production way in the company, and provides solutions to the related production problems.

As the chemical Engineer in China, you will report to LO (Liaison Office) Chief chemist and play a big role in shoe-making polymer formulation/innovation/specification/component production process standardization /quality assurance. You will be also in charge of shoe bonding process and factory chemical management；You need to monitor all polymer component production to ensure good quality/ on–time delivery / reasonable cost, and support company footwear sustainability programs in Asia especially on VOC (Volatile Organic Content) reduction projects.

?This position will be located in Zhuhai, China.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

? Lead quality-audit for rubber /EVA/other component production, supporting CS (Columbia Sportswear) manufacturing team to ensure the component quality at quarterly basis.

? Work with BO development team for specific bottom project by season and pass project information to engineering team and production team, Work with Commercialization team to identify / approve relevant bonding processes and be a main driver for VOC (Volatile Organic Content) reduction program.

? Monitor bonding process in the production, assessing / reporting factory bonding performance.

? Monitor Polymer physical MCS (Material Control Sheet; Spec) and component CSS (Component Specification Sheet) adherence.

? Promote Chemical EHS (Environmental, Health, Safety) practices by cooperating with corresponding team from company, shoe factories and suppliers.

? Provide Chemical-engineering technical support to manufacturing team

? Assist chief chemist for polymer MCS (Material Control Sheet; Spec) updating & maintenance seasonally.

YOU ARE?

? Good communication skill.

? Project management ability.

? Fluent in both spoken and written English.

YOU HAVE?

? 5 - 8 year or above work experience in shoe factory or rubber outsole /EVA midsole or Footwear cement factories.

? Bachelor’s degree is required, preferable to major in Chemical-engineering, Polymer, or Organic Chemistry.

• Proficient with MS Office software like Outlook, Word, and Excel, power point.
