As a Buyer, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute your expertise to drive:

*Strategic guidance (understand the current supplier base, the evaluation of strategic options, a course of action, and beginning implementations);
*Team leadership (guiding decisions on sourcing, logistics, and resource management, as well as continuous process improvement and team-member mentorship);
*Intelligent problem-solving & customer support solutions (determining how to best satisfy Critical Customer Requirements while sustaining competitive advantage); and
*Quality supplier relationships (developing mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers throughout the organization).

In this role, you will provide purchasing solutions expertise using Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) to deliver maximum value in developing, communicating, and/or implementing site, regional, or occasional worldwide sourcing strategies for specific or multiple Caterpillar business units.

For one or multiple regional sites with a typical spend generally up to $50M, you will perform complex processes in critical and strategic markets. Through these processes, you will be responsible for:
*Managing policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special purchasing programs;
*Supporting specific Product line(s)’ New Product Introduction (NPI) programs;
The liaison with the corresponding Category/Platform based Buyers.


Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following required selection criteria:
*An undergraduate degree from a college or university – or equivalent experience;
*A minimum of two years of progressively responsible job-related experience;
*Advanced negotiation skills;
*Experience leading projects as well as leading teams, suppliers, & customers to effective solutions;
*Willingness to travel up to 50-75% of work time as needed; and
*Fluency (able to read, write, understand, speak, and teach) in English.



Desireable Qualifications:

The following criteria will be beneficial but not required:
*Experience in purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering; and
*Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management, e.g.; Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), and/or Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable international certification.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong interpersonal, analytical, leadership, and project management skills to develop close working relationships with others both inside and outside Caterpillar.
