Job Description

Caterpillar Aftertreatment and Cooling Products-China (ACP-C) is seeking a cooling system performance analysis engineer to develop cooling components and systems for use in CAT machine and engine applications.

Responsibilities

q Provide technical guidance regarding component selection and system performance. A significant portion of this will be in the form of analysis including: underhood thermal and flow CFD (hot or cold, air or fluid) and cooling system performance prediction. The analyst must explain the analysis assumptions, limitations, and results and provide value added input to the design process

q Define and manage core sample tests required to complete core selection

q Define and oversee execution of all performance validation tests e.g. component performance test, machine cooling test, etc.

q Review all performance test results and determine what actions must be taken

q Consider all aspects of commonality in core matrix selection

q Assist project manager to construct, maintain, and interpret performance specifications

Qualifications

Required –

q MS in Mechanical Eng (or related science or engineering degree e.g. Vehicle Engineering, Aerospace Eng, Physics, etc.) or BS with 2+ years work experience

q Strong thermal science (fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer) background

q CFD experience

q Fluent in English with clear verbal and written communication skills

q Strong technical and analytical skills

q Demonstrated motivation and teamwork

Desired –

q Knowledge of diesel engine and machine cooling systems

q Experience in using 1-D or 3-D cooling component or system analysis software e.g. Fluent, KULI, AMESim, etc.

q Knowledge of Pro/E and design practices

q Expertise in cooling component and system test procedures

q Experience using GT-Power for sound analysis
