Key Tasks
1.Build capability
? Support development and execution of elements of the Global Production System (GPS) implementation plan.
? Support regular audits of sites to determine GPS & TES score and participate in gap analysis and development of countermeasure actions.
? Where relevant, measure and communicate progress to GPS implementation plan to customers, site leadership and all relevant stakeholders
? Ensure targets and progress status are clearly displayed in each plant
? Facilitate and confirm understanding of local management and local product groups in relation to objectives and requirements of GPS
? Development and deployment of standardised “How to” guides and the associated self–audits for team leaders to use as reference when implementing “The BASICS” as well as other lean tools.
? Development and delivery of standardised in–house lean/GPS training programs.
? Train/coach and mentor product groups in lean/GPS methodologies and tools, in line with the GPS Implementation plan.
? Ensure standardised Lean/GPS tools and systems are deployed on all Thailand sites and office areas.
? Monitor site expenditure with respect to Lean/GPS deployment within pre-defined CI group budgets.
? Ensure that the Lean/GPS systems implementation remains aligned with TS16949 requirements and support relevant aspects of TS audits.
? Co-ordinate external training in line with the Lean/GPS training plan
? Participate in internal and external benchmarking, and translate key findings into internal improvement initiatives
? Communicate team projects and initiatives to site Operations management team.
? Identify and immediately highlight any major bottlenecks or constraints that may inhibit timely execution of plans. Define and implement corrective action plans, and seek support from management where required.
? Drive initiatives to ensure product group management involvement in the implementation of lean principles. (E.g. Kaizen Blitz, Jishuken,)
? Maintain regular contact with the customer, where relevant, and ensure a positive working relationship and open communication.
? Maintain regular contact with internal departments and encourage a two-way feedback process and updates.
? Foster an implementation environment that ensures team involvement at all levels within the product groups.
2.Safety, Environment, cost
? Identify and implement cost saving ideas if applicable to CI team or implement projects as allocated by management.
? Advocate and demonstrate behaviour that encourages all employees to operate in safe work environment.
? Actively support operational work systems that allow people to keep safe
? Be an advocate for environmental initiatives, including effective recycling & reduction/elimination of waste to landfill/environmental containments
3.People
? Drive behaviours that are in line and supportive of company goals, management decisions, values and concepts of Lean and GPS, via coaching, training and consultation.
? Identify and develop talent for succession from within the product groups though effectively coaching and mentoring
? Build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the business to ensure effective change management and industrial relations.
? Provide constructive advice, support and guidance to manufacturing teams in order to foster an environment where individuals develop capabilities and self confidence to support manufacturing teams in achieving stretch targets.
? Represent the Continuous Improvement team in meetings and events, and be a day-to-day advocate for its objectives and values.
? Contribute to an environment where individuals develop capabilities and self confidence to aggressively pursue stretch targets
? At all times contribute positively and demonstrate behaviour that attempts to motivate and inspire other work colleagues e.g. display a positive “can-do” outlook and a drive to find a “better way”
Qualifications
? Essential: Tertiary Qualification in Manufacturing/Engineering/ or related discipline
? Desirable: Tertiary qualification or extensive prior training in Lean manufacturing
Experience
? Proven experience in a similar role within a JIT environment
? Proven experience in manufacturing/engineering/people coaching and management.
? Proven experience in Lean Implementation in a high volume manufacturing environment.
? Project management experience on small to medium projects
Skills & Knowledge
? High standard of written and verbal communication skills.
? Intermediate or better skills in MS Office
? Thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
? Ability in developing and delivering training material.
? Ability to develop structured and realistic timing plans to support the execution of GPS roll-out
? Understanding of automotive lean manufacturing systems and principles (i.e. TS16949, APQP, 5S, TPS)
? People Skills: demonstrate the ability to be assertive, passionate and lead by example
