ROLE PURPOSE

Drive trait andgenetics licensing projects in CHINA and APAC for the Vegetable Seeds Business.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Drive the in- andout-licensing strategy and scouting for CHINA and APAC, including new BusinessDevelopment opportunities in China and other APAC countries.

• Work independently andpro-actively under the leadership and direction of the Global Vegetable Licensinglead and in alignment with the APAC Veg Commercial Leadership Team.

• Work closely with theRegional Portfolio Managers and APAC R&D teams to drive the agreedlicensing agenda.

• Draft and negotiateterm sheets and license agreements in collaboration with OU, IP and legalsupport.

• Manage andsuccessfully conclude license agreements for commercial varieties, germplasm, traits,technology as well as research, testing, production, confidentiality&material transfer agreements in a timely manner with third party seed companies,universities and research institutions in China and other APAC countries.

• Ensure contractcompliance (e.g., royalty payments, data requirements, stewardship responsibilities)of licensees and Syngenta are met through database tracking and reporting.

• Develop, manage andmaintain the licensing network, build and support strong relationships withlicensing partners

  Support the globalR&D technology scouting team in APAC.

   

  KNOWLEDGE SKILLS &EXPERIENCE:

   

  Critical Knowledge:

• Proven experience ingermplasm scouting, traits and/or technology licensing.

• General knowledge ofagronomy and technical background in vegetable seed market  

• Understanding of theagricultural seeds business cycle for growers, retailers and distributors andmarket segmentation is a plus.

• Understanding how tomanage multidisciplinary teams and projects and operate successfully in acomplex matrix organization
  

• Sound businesspractices and financial skills.

   

  Critical Skills: 

• Leadership innegotiation, both internally and externally.

• Project managementskills to drive business outcomes, prioritizing and managing multiple taskswithin a diverse, geographically diverse, multifunctional team.

• Fluent in Chinese andEnglish, both speaking and writing.

   

  Critical Experience: 

• 2+ years of relevant, hands-onlicensing experience

• 5+ years overall workexperience in seed industry and Business

• Bachelor degree or advancedscience degree in Agronomy, Biology or Biochemistry preferred.

• Good understanding ofAgribusiness, technical background in biology/biochemistry, and generalknowledge and understanding of commercial business.

• Professional experiencewith product development, supply management, or product evaluation is a plus.

• Good IP knowhow andlegal contract knowledge. 

• Solid interpersonalskills for interfacing with 3rd party customers

• Ability to travel asrequired by the function
