Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

• Oversees and coordinates efforts evaluating the in vitro and in vivo profiles of research and development drug molecules.
• Leads research projects to identify and evaluate new drug candidates and advance them through development decision points.
• Provides required design support for nonclinical and clinical studies.
• Represents the Preclinical Development department on project teams.
• Responsible for writing DMPK summaries for regulatory submissions.
• Presents results of work at internal and national scientific meetings.
• Identifies and resolves study operational issues efficiently and maintains project timelines.
• Leads a small group of scientists and works efficiently in matrix teams.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

• PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, or Pharmaceutical Sciences with 8+ years of experience in Discovery Research, in vivo pharmacology and DMPK functions in the pharmaceutical industry. Must have preclinical DMPK experience.
• Proven track record of utilizing preclinical animal models to evaluate small molecules and provide proof-of-concept to support therapeutic potential.
• Experience in screening small molecules for exposure in standard PK studies.
• ADME is required to assess the pharmaceutical properties or clearance mechanisms of novel compounds.
• A proven record of scientific contribution in the field with peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience in choosing, guiding, and monitoring CRO studies is preferable.
• Ability to interpret diverse and multidisciplinary data sets.
• Experience participating on drug development teams and IND/NDA submissions.
• Experience in designing, monitoring, and interpreting non-clinical DMPK/safety studies.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and capacity to foster an interactive, collaborative, and cross-functional research environment.
• Excellent leadership, managerial, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask and work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team in a matrix environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to generate high quality data analysis results under tight timelines.
