Role synopsisThe Reward and Employee Relations Manager is responsible for the delivery of Country reward and ER strategy. This includes reviewing and updating reward policies and programs to ensure the total reward competitiveness in each local market and setting up the process, standards and training required to effectively manager employee relations issues across the businesses to ensure a compliant and consistent approach.
Key accountabilitiesAnnual salary review and market survey
-Lead compensation surveys in mainland and HK (country surveys and functions customized surveys), analyze survey output in standardized formats in country and produce reports and presentations;
-Lead the annual salary review process for mainland China and HK office including preparing the guidance, tools, communications plan (including FAQs) and summary for business HRs before and after the review cycle;
Benefit programs management
-Analyse and report the competitiveness of benefits programs to ensure the plans are at the market rate and fit-for-purpose;
-Act as the focal contact for vendors of Enterprise Annuity, commercial insurance and other HR outsourced service, lead the annual contract renewal and monitor the service quality effectively;
Equity plan management
-Act as the Country Coordinator for Equity plans implemented in China, liaison with group equity team and provide guidance to Country Administrator regarding the plan process, standards and implementation details;
-Follow up the process for special cases in RSP and SVP, and provide guidance to Ops and BFHR in the special cases;
Reward policies and guidelines
-Support the implementation and communication of Group and country reward programs e.g. Base salary, bonus, incentives plan, levels slotting etc.;
-Review and update the reward guidelines based on the change of market and local regulations to ensure efficiency and compliance;
Employee relations management
-Act as te focal point for guidance on the management of employee relations issues across businesses to ensure sound and consistent approach,
-Record and share the lessons learned from the cases within HR team to improve the knowledge and skills of the team in dealing with ER issues;
-Keep close monitor on the changes of local government regulations on employment regulations, provide timely update and advice to business HR and Ops team to be compliant;
-Keep record and update information on the trade union status in BP legal entities, including JVs and advise on negotiating strategy as required
-Monitor the trend on Trade Union of local government in locations BP operates, provide timely and practical advice on the actions to take;
-Act as the key link with BP legal to review legislation changes and recommend policy updates as required
-Act as the link with Group ER, coordinating updates and training to the wider HR team as required
Staff communication and training
-Work with the Talent Development and Training Manager in the capability development for China HR team in C&B and ER skills and knowledge;
-provide training and guidance to the Operations team on policies/guidelines;
-Plan and deliver the communications to employees regarding total reward principles, programs and regulations to enhance the transparency and understanding;
Project and business support
-Support the team in ad hoc reward projects and ER projects;
-Provide advice and consultancy to business HR on daily basis regarding compensation and benefits issues and inquiries;
Essential EducationBachelor degree
Essential experience and job requirements-8 to 10 years record experience in HR function, with deep specialist experience in C&B and employee relations;
-Familiar with the general survey methodology, experienced with grading system and reports of the consulting firms, e.g. Mercer, Hewitt, Hay, etc.
-Familiar with employment contract law and major employment regulations in China mainland
-Knowledge on HRIS system (SAP) and payroll running would be a plus
-Skilful in MS office, e.g. excel, ppt and word
-Data orientated and process minded

-Good judgement and reasoning skills in applying the reward and ER principle and policies to individual case in different business context;
-Have business acumen and can make sound decision when circumstance is challenging and ambiguous;
Desirable criteria & qualificationsThe job holder needs to lead the reward initiatives in major JV and HK office, need to liaison with counterparts in other JVs
The job holder needs to monitor the trend of labor union and local government regulations, work closely with internal and external legal and ER practitioners, to provide practical guidance to HR team to ensure compliance
