Role Synopsis

The position of Business Control Manager for China Lubes has an objective to

Support Accounting Manager to lead the development of a compliance culture through design, implement and monitoring improved business controls and business processes.

Building up the foundation for the delivery of Business internal control accountabilities under the BP Management Framework in order to provide assurance to the Accounting Manager and China Finance Manager business controls are consistent with the Group/Regional.

Key Accountabilities

1. Support Accounting Manager to establishing, maintenance and monitoring of effective and efficient business financial controls within China Lubes by:

- Organize business Internal Control “workshops” to enhance Lubes team business internal control awareness, document the control processes, identifying controls points, objectives to deliver those controls and key controls to ensure the control objectives are met.

- Ensure documented processes are updated to reflect changes in the business or control environment.

- Ensure that the correct monitoring controls are in place, and that these are performed on a timely basis;

- Develop required policy and procedures.

- Through this process recommend areas to improve controls and lead the implementation of these improved control processes.

- Standardise or automate control processes where possible.

- Ensure that other business and functions are aware of the minimum Control expectations, and that these are being applied.

2. Maintaining the Delegations of Authority and ensuring compliance, follow through on the Control Breaks

3. Development and ongoing review with Sales and marketing of Controls for Credit review, Trade Loans, Sales rebates; Advertising and Promotion rebate and hand-out processes to ensure that these are effective and appropriate given their sensitivity, materiality and frequency.

4. Ensure all Date integrity reports are reviewed on a timely basis; and where issues arise ensure that the Accounting team follows up on their resolution.

Essential Education

The post-holder needs to hold a recognised business degree (or equivalent).

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

Experience (years and nature)

At least 4-6 years finance experience includes 3 years experience on business internal control and able to lead project and work across teams to deliver the performance.

A sounds Knowledge of business internal control and process improvement experience such as credit review.

Experience in project management is added advantage.

Skills

The incumbent will need to establish effective relationships across the BP Finance team, KLAC and the Business to help deliver objectives. Therefore the ability to form relationships with people at all levels and from a variety of backgrounds and cultures is essential for this role.

In depth experience of accounting, business process and internal control would be essential.

Good understanding of how BP's Business Financial Control & Accounting processes and systems operate, including the key interfaces with other Corporate & Functions, departments and with third party providers.

Good business judgment in handling potentially sensitive control issues.

Strong impact, interpersonal and communication skills with proven capability and/or potential to make a significant contribution to the China finance team

Proven leadership experience which could include significant change management experience.
