The Company
Antriol is specialized in manufacturing Office Furniture, Retail and Shop Interiors. At our factory near Shanghai we engage in a broad set of steel processing activities, with a strong focus on quality. While Antriol initially was a production facility for Gispen International BV, it since developed to serve its own large international customer base. Recently becoming part of the largest private equity company from The Netherlands (HAL Investments), the company has lots of opportunities to grow.

Job Summary
The R&D manager is leading the R&D department with 6 (design) engineers. The R&D department is responsible to deliver product drawings/design and product samples and to ensure that products can be developed in production facility without delays on planning. The R&D manager is interface between client and the production site. He needs to be able to support client(s) with feasible planning and translate his wishes into realistic product design. Also, R&D manager is responsible that design fits the production capabilities. Another challenge is to ensure that the team is positively steered and trained, providing clear planning and responsibilities to the team.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Manage team, including:
a. Train engineers on design that fits the practical possibilities of the production machinery
b. Provide team with clear planning (preferably per assignment), responsibilities (delegate work, give team clear responsibility) and deliverables that ensure in-time delivery of samples and reduce ad hoc actions
c. Ability to oversee full picture from design, sampling, production, assembly, transport and how these elements are inter-related

2. Client communication, including:
a. Manage client expectation in positive way, i.e. deliver clear picture on possibilities client wishes with regards to the production facilities
b. Daily communication with related in the Netherlands on design, samples and further production of products. Periodic communication with external clients.
c. Make simple sketches in order to show the customer a first impression of what the final design will look like.

3. Support other stakeholders:
a. Advising management on options and alternative designs, materials, fittings, fixtures, etc.
b. Support purchasing team to clarify technical questions;
c. Help account managers to coordinate the project process including: project plan, project design, procurement, try-out assembly and sample approval;

Qualifications
1. 7+ years experience working with 3-D CAD software, preferably UG and/or Solidworks.
2. 5+ years experience working with Sheet Metal is preferred.
3. 3+ year management experience. Candidate should have led small team (1-2 persons) and is able to lead, steer and train the 6 young engineers/designers in the R&D department
4. Work experience in foreign companies would be an advantage
5. Candidate should have experience working in product design department, with clear understanding on how production facilities (machines) influence the design (see below for main qualifications).
6. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as, stamping, casting, and machining.
7. Strong understanding of statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing.
8. Requires demonstrated ability to manage revision control and product design documentation
9. Customer orientation: ability to deliver a feasible plan that fit client wishes, positive influencing of client wishes to solutions that Antriol is able to deliver
10. Positive attitude: strong can-do mentality, ability to bring positivity to the team despite heavy workload, ability to deliver in-time (give final ‘push’).
11. Independent, Loyal, Self-Motivating and Strong and analytical/problem solving skills.
12. Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment.
13. Fluent in English is a must. Fluency in Chinese is strongly preferred.
