Job Purpose

Provide technical support for Melexis IC Sales of Business Unit Actuators, by realizing smart power & motor control solutions at big existing & new customers.


Summary of Job content

Cooperate closely with the Melexis application engineering teams in Germany and Belgium, by developing complete motor application solutions for our customers:
? Collaborate on reference designs and demonstrators to support sales to customers
? Write technical application notes, in cooperation with the product line manager
? Solve customer problems during validation until the IC is in production

Support engineers at our customers, to design in Melexis actuator IC’s until production:
? Understand customer application requirements for pcb electronics and software
? Solve customer problems during validation until the IC is in production
? Solve customer quality problems during IC production

Job Requirements
? Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
? Understanding hardware + software design
? Able to make a solution design independently
? Experience with motor control systems
? Experience with embedded software for small micro-controllers
? Fluency in English, written and spoken
? Willing to travel to customers up to 50% of her/his time
? 5 years of relevant experience

our Future Job
As Field Applications Engineer at Melexis you will build a strong technical expertise on the Melexis actuator products. Based on this expertise you will be able to help the customers select and implement the best Melexis product that provides the functionality desired and, when necessary, provide technical assistance throughout the design cycle from development through production. Provide ancillary support to team members developing necessary documentation (datasheets, application notes) and supporting tools (development kits, demos).
More specifically, you will
? Support customer with the selection of the right product for their application.
? Provide detailed knowledge of the magnetic sensor products and a high level knowledge of the other Melexis products. Be able to explain the “Unique Selling Propositions”, benchmark with competitors, technical advantages, and technical limitations for the various products.
? Build strong customer relations through their technical knowledge at various levels of the customer’s organization.
? Perform independent customer visits and log important details of the visit in Salesforce.
? Proactively and independently ensure technical hurdles are overcome to move customer applications from development to production.
? Contribute, when requested, to the definition and execution of the characterization and evaluation of Melexis products. Communicate the conclusions to the Melexis team and use results in assisting customers.
? Develop hardware and/or embedded software for customer demos, evaluation kits, and reference designs. Write application notes and FAQs with timely reporting to Melexis team and customers.
? Propose tools improvements and modifications to satisfy customer’s expectations and ease design-in.
? Support the increase in application knowledge throughout the Melexis organization by sharing issues, market trends, and competitor products and advantages with the sales and business unit.
? Support the quality team and customer in the failure analysis process. Perform first-line technical support to confirm failure prior to handoff to the quality team. When necessary act as a coordinator for various activities between the customer and Melexis quality team.
Your Profile
? Strong technological know-how relevant to the product line in order to support the customer.
? Application Engineering Expertise: Advanced technical skills in order to demonstrate the Melexis capability at the system/application level for the product line.
? IC design: high level understanding of the functions of the IC design at block level in order to build the bridge between the application and IC functionalities.
? System Engineering Expertise: Understanding of the customer’s application, cost drivers, alternatives and technology roadmap.
? Failure Analysis: Be able to support the Quality department in the Failure Analysis process – basic understanding of the customer products with proven expertise in technical problem solving.
? Technical Sales Support: Able to develop sales material for the sales team. Basic training skills in order to provide the appropriate inputs to the sales members on appropriate use of products, the unique benefits of our offerings and methods of selling and communicating the value of our offering.
? Project follow-up: Basic project management skills to follow-up the design-in process and the development of supporting tools.
? Industry Expertise: Understanding of the applications, market, key players and related technology.
? Process Flow: Have working knowledge and familiarity around automotive development (e.g. DV, PV, PPAP) and manufacturing processes and practices overmolding, soldering, IC packaging…) both internally and at the customers.
? Mentoring: able to teach and guide interns and associate Field Applications Engineer.
Requirements
? BA degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering
? 3-5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry
? Technical expertise acquired at the system/application level:
o Hardware: Schematic capture and PCB layout.
o Software programming: .Net (C#/VB) or Labview preferred.
o Simulation tools and capability: Tolerance stackup via Excel or other tool, familiarity with magnetic modelling tools (FEMM and/or COMSOL) desired.
o General electronics: Knowledge of IC manufacturing and packages, uses and selection of discrete components (resistors, capacitors, etc).
o Application testing and calibration: Ability to use various lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power supplies.
? High level understanding of the functions of BLDC HW&SW application.
? Understanding of electronics solutions for the customer applications, cost drivers, alternatives, technologies and positions on the market.
? Proven communication skills.
? Fluency in written and spoken English – other customer languages are a plus.
? Open to travel around 30% of working time
