Sr. Supply Base Engineering Manager (Tooling, Surface treatment)

Major responsibilities
The Supply Base Engineering Manager will provide technical support in leading component selection, qualification, usage, and lifecycle management. The SBE manager will drive alignment between internal component and product specifications and suppliers’ technology and capabilities. The SBE manager’s success will be measured by achieving goals related to cost, quality, sustainability, and process improvement.

1. UPFRONT ENGAGEMENT with PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT to provide
a. COMPONENT MANUFACTURING PROCESS DESIGN and EQUIPMENT SELECTION to achieve the most efficient and cost effective solutions based on a given design. Ability to understand the technical performance expectations of the equipment selected and accurately predicts production performances.
b. ESTABLISH OPTIMAL PROCESSING PARAMETERS for each step of the production process (i.e. cycle time, yield, consumable replacement, etc.)
c. INFLUENCE DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS for mechanical component/assembly manufacturing optimization to support category management deliverables.
d. Ensure completeness and comprehensive PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS and process parameters prior to production.
e. Clearly DOCUMENT THE TECHNICAL aspects of the suppliers’ PRODUCTION EXPECTATIONS.
2. Supplier engagement
a. Procurement Engineer to lead the identification of SUPPLY BASE CAPABILITIES.
b. Lead Supplier’s Process Engineering team to DESIGN OPTIMAL PROCESSES to produce components utilizing 6-Sigma methodology.
3. Quarterly/Semi-Annual Executive Management Reviews identifying MARKET TECHNOLOGY TRENDS that influences product design.
4. CHANGE MANAGEMENT to continuous improve efficiency and performances via repeatable processes, people growth, and elimination of work duplication.

- Professional experiences in “owned” factory operations. Designed/selected production processes/equipment/consumables/etc.
- Experiences in metal-forming, mold-flow, etc. predictive software packages.
- 6-Sigma certifications.
- Superior Project/Timeline (Consumer Electronics Integrated Project Management) adherence experiences.
- Manufacturing thru-put and capacity analysis skillset.
Category Requirements - MECHANICAL-METALS FABRICATION components focus including (stamping, forging, extrusion, forming, machining, wire-cutting, etc.) and secondary surface treatments including (painting, anodizing, vacuum metallization, etc.).
Education/Other Requirements - Advanced engineering degrees or equivalent experiences.
- Must be an ENGINEERING/PROCESS PROFESSIONAL with strong BUSINESS acumen skills.
- Quick learner of Microsoft systems and processes. Agile & Adaptable.
