Position: Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (Shenzhen Office)

Reports to: VP/Director of Quality Assurance (USA)

Co-work with USA (Hartland) QA staff to lead in quality planning of assigned product/supplier sourcing projects to ensure that Batteries Plus sources products from Asian region that meet company specification requirements.

Product Qualification

• Conduct qualification and ongoing factory audit of new and existing suppliers as required to ensure that: (1) the suppliers are capable of manufacturing consistent products that meet Batteries Plus requirements and (2) the suppliers are maintaining and improving that capability continually.
• Work with suppliers to continually identify root causes of quality concerns and implement effective corrective and preventive actions
• Conduct pre-shipment sample testing at the Shenzhen Quality Lab according to Batteries Plus Quality Acceptance Plan based on supplier and item quality history. Maintain test records properly
• Co-work with US QA staff to develop and maintain product and test specifications that meet international standards and customer expectations
• Research and acquire necessary knowledge to conduct testing, evaluation and applications of light bulbs, lead acid and portable batteries and applicable charging systems. Stay abreast of new product and technology development in these areas.
• Assist Quality Assurance team with product specification documentation
• Take initiative to make recommendations that would improve quality and sourcing

Supplier Relations

• Work with suppliers to continually identify root causes of quality concerns and implement effective corrective and preventive actions
• Work with suppliers to continually ensure and improve the effectiveness of process controls affecting product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain supplier relationships. Evaluate supplier change requests and make recommendations to management

Testing and Reporting

· Conduct a variety of tests and evaluations of new products (Life-cycle, capacity, circuitry, charging, drop and component testing), and on warranty issues

· Analyze and report test results. Provide recommendations to management and project team based on test results.

· Conduct and issue report on special competitive product testing and evaluation as assigned by management

· Ensure Quality System processes and specifications are updated and followed, and records are properly documented and maintained

· Communicate to management and project team members on information regarding test data and optimum test methods

• Keep management promptly informed of project status and significant supplier issues and concerns.

· Provide technical assistance to others in the company as needed

· Maintain a clean, professional test environment ensuring organization of the Shenzhen Test Lab.

· Minimum Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science preferred, plus appropriate continuing education.

· 5-7 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control with extensive experience in factory audits. Current working knowledge in testing and evaluation methods of electrical/charging systems and battery applications and components is beneficial but not required.

· Highly analytical; ability to assess situations using statistical and qualitative analysis and make recommendations and/or decisions to meet business needs.

· Demonstrated problem solving skills. Requires the use of judgment in the analysis of facts to devise new or modify and adapt existing methods; make decisions within limits of established policies.

· Process oriented with good project management skills; capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to take ownership of a project and effectively prioritize work to meet business requirements. Strongly motivated with sense of urgency.

· Flexible and well organized with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.

· Strong verbal and written documentation and communication skills. Ability to accurately and clearly present new information and be effective at all levels of the organization.

· Strong knowledge of MS Office and/or other similar databases or software with an ability to adapt learning to incorporate new technology.

· Ability to work independently and as a member of cross-functional business team; able to develop and follow-up on plans and effectively build strong relationships.

· Ability to work independently. A quick study and self starter who shows initiative

· The position requires the employee to regularly use a computer, phone, fax, copier and other standard office equipment.

· While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee will occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Protective clothing and/or equipment used in this position include safety glasses and gloves.

· The level of noise in the working environment is moderate.
