MAIN FUNCTION:

The Infrastructure Support Specialist's role is to ensure the prompt resolution of infrastructure related incidents, effective problem management and the stable operation of the SNL infrastructure. This includes, including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all core infrastructure equipment as well as network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide mentoring to other staff when required.



KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Resolve incident and problem tickets within defined service level agreements;

2. Maintain servers and infrastructure hardware including file, e-mail, print and backup servers and associated operating systems and software;

3. Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products;

4. Maintain security standards, including internet access,firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection and prevention systems.

5. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.



QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

· College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience.

· MSCE/ITIL/CCNA/CCA Certifications a plus.

· Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP and Vista

· Good knowledge of Citrix, Virtualization and related technology.

· Extensive application support experience with LAN networking protocols and knowledge of IP and routing protocols.

· Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including Intel, Cisco, and MPLS.

· Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

· Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.

· Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.

· Good interpersonal skills.

· Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

· Self motivated and directed.

· Keen attention to detail.

· Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

· Strong customer service orientation.

· Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
