Director Manufacturing Product Engineering

Want to change the future of the living room and how people interact with their entertainment devices? Microsoft MSCIS Product Engineering is looking for a Senior Director of Manufacturing Product Engineering (MPE). This position will be located in China and report to the Sr. Director of Product Engineering (PE).

The responsibilities of this position will be to manage a team of over 10 engineers located at various manufacturing and research locations in China, Mexico, South America, as well as Europe. As director of the MPE team, you will be responsible for setting the goals, priorities, as well as the accountable metrics to be used by your team to ensure that all of the supported products being manufactured by the various Contract Manufacturers (CMs) that Microsoft utilizes to build their products meet their business objectives. These business objectives will include (but are not limited to), keeping the quality of the product at the required levels both in the factory and in the early life of the product (Infant mortality); ensuring that the factories are able to ship the quantity of products as defined by the Microsoft sourcing team (COS) as well as support all new development, Engineering Change Requests (ECR) / Engineering Change Orders (ECO), to improve quality, cost, and reduce COS risk.

As the Senior Product Engineer in region, you will also be expected to be the voice of the PE organization for all activities that are happening in the factories on the supported products. This includes interfacing with the New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing Test Engineering (MTE), Factory Management (FM), as well as other support organization that are required to sustain the products in production.

You will be developing the key processes, reports, and metrics that will be used to communicate to the Sr. Director of Product Engineering as well as the various business group leaders, what the key issues are on each product and what actions are being done to address and problems. You will ensure that each issue that is identified has the right resources, priority, and schedule to ensure successful resolution. All issues that required outside resources (such as supplier quality engineering) will be managed by your team. Your role is to ensure that each of these outside dependencies are in alignment with the product sustaining requirements.

Since quality and line down situations typically require effective management and problem solving, you will be expected to be setting the pace of the problem solving teams and giving guidance and advice on whether or not the root cause is being identified and fixed appropriately.

As a member of the MSCIS PE team, you will be required to work with the other senior leaders in the team to effectively manage the critical resources within the overall team and balance your teams deliverables with the overall deliverables of the MSCIS PE team.

Requirements:

- BSEE/ME degree

- At least 10+ years management experience

- Demonstrated leadership experience

- Effective problem solving skills

- 10 years manufacturing experience

- Effective communications skills

Preferred:

- Experience in consumer electronics

- Worked remote and in China

- Managed multi-disciple team

- Managed a repair location
