Primary Job Purpose

  

• To manage commodities for direct material in support of US HQ, specifically metals, plastics, electronics, chemicals, packaging and fastener components.  Identify and engage with quality to understand commodity requirements and ensure supply base is aligned.

• Responsible for conducting or supporting negotiations and supplier selection.  To deliver commodity driven cost downs through price negotiations, supplier continuous improvement projects.

    

 

  

 Major Responsibilities

  

• Manage existing suppliers, develop new supplier in order to maximize cost of director material by variety of means, such as LTA signing, seeking alternate supply scenarios, helping suppliers to control production cost, etc.

• Maintain interface with SQE, Product Engineering and Procurement team to ensure supplier quality objectives are identified and met

• To provide required information to the procurement team, internal customers which facilitates the budgeting process, strategy execution and performance monitoring. 

• Train supplier personnel to upgrade their process to eliminate identified gaps and comply with International quality requirements.

• Analyze and track performance to Sourcing financial goals, develop and publish weekly reports to ensure accuracy. Hold weekly reviews to develop necessary action plans.
• Facilitate cross functional engagement with procurement, quality teams in support of project execution
• Identify technology, data and information deficiencies, best practices and/or ideas, and then manage multiple projects for the development of Sourcing related systems/tools. Lead and facilitate project schedules, develop action plans to ensure targeted milestones are met.
• Lead supplier performance evaluation system which involves the development and implementation of supplier scorecards.
• Establish and maintain business relationships with the appropriate management of key suppliers.

• Support Supplier Relationship Management and will facilitate and lead supplier commodity reviews for strategic suppliers.  Responsible for continuity of supply including actively monitoring and mitigating supplier capacity and risk.

   

Qualifications and Experience

  

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar manufacturing-based engineering degree.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a metallic/mechanical industry in supply chain management in a medium to large manufacturing organization of American or European JV or WOFE in china.

• Machining, plastic molding knowledge.

• Demonstrated background and proven experience with process deployment, data analysis, supplier evaluation, commodity management and performance reporting.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including, but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.  Advanced Excel skills is a plus.

• Strong teaming capabilities with the ability to operate independently.

• Strong negotiation, written/oral communication in English, effective presentation and facilitation conflict resolution, and influence skills.

• Travel domestically and internationally as required.
