Role:  Packaging Engineer

Responsibilities:

Responsible for structure & quality of the packaging, evaluating and improving package designs. ensure that Packaging received from our venders meet requirements and overall performance standard.  Conduct proper test procedure and evaluate the results. Communicate and negotiate with vendor the packaging cost and detailed specification, others: Trouble shooting and rework support.

Reports to Director in the US

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

Basic Qualification

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Packaging design or related engineering discipline.
• More than 5 years’ packing design experience.  Hydration products packing design is preferred .
• Frequent written and oral English .

Packaging development

• Packaging design of complex projects such as PDQ, stackable trays. Provide packaging details specification and guideline to vendor side for quote, sampling .
• Leads the evaluation and approval of packaging structure & materials qualified for new product development, ensure it within IPC’s standards and also meet ISTA requirements
• Organize and execute packaging qualification testing, ensure vendor’s sample internal testing has meet IPC’s & ISTA testing requirements.
• Create and issue specification reports and manage data.
• Communicate technical risks and project status to cross project development team (China and US QC team, Sourcing team, US project Managers ) .

Cost and quality control：

• All final costing approved by US Sourcing Team
• Working closely with US Sourcing team for new packaging supplier.
• Localize the packaging parts based on China supply chain with qualified requirement.
• Support the trial run with purchasing, PM, manufacturing and quality team.
• Survey and audit the packaging supplier.

Trouble-shooting and Production support：

• Analyze the Customer complaints for shipped project.
• Analyze the failed packaging test for new project or shipped project, find out the root cause of the failure and provide the solution.
• Lead and solve the engineering issue of packaging before mass production; Support and solve the issues of packaging during rework.
• Ability to turn projects withing 24-48 hours dependent on size of project
• Experience working with Walmart and other US Customers and has deep knowledge of US requirements
