About the Role: We are looking for an experienced leader to create broad alignment and ownership across our global Performance Solutions Division (PSD) on sustainability topics to support our Enterprise Sustainability Program. This commitment creates a great opportunity for an individual who is seeking a strategic global commitment that contributes to the Gore Brand Promise of improving life at the intersection of business, innovation, emerging regulations and changing market expectations. This commitment will be located in Shenzhen, China.
Responsibilities:
- Driving identification of sustainability opportunities for the Division, engaging with divisional leadership to establish an aligned and supported sustainability strategy priorities, and monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of the execution plans
- Understanding changing external environments, market and regulatory trends, anticipating the changing sustainability expectations of internal and external stakeholders, and in collaboration with the Enterprise Sustainability Leader, leveraging this knowledge to develop actionable insights for Divisional leadership
- Participating in developing the Enterprise sustainability strategy and collaborating to reflect it in relevant business plans
- Driving an aligned internal and external communication strategy and serving as a spokesperson on sustainability matters for external communications for the Division
- Driving development of Divisional capabilities regarding external and internal stakeholder sustainability engagement and technical advocacy
- Developing and maintaining a Divisional sustainability resourcing plan
- Contributing to an annual Enterprise responsibility report that reflects the diversity of products, product innovations, social and environmental initiatives that contribute to advancing prioritized United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, along with the ability to quickly learn new content areas and assimilate large amounts of information
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the content area of environmental and/or social sustainability and/or sustainable innovations, including knowledge of best practices in relevant industries, such as automotive, aerospace, mobile electronics and pharmaceuticals
- Demonstrated experience creating communication strategies which inspire internal audiences and are relevant for external target groups (e.g. customers, industry representatives)
- Successful experience influencing and integrating at multiple levels within a complex organization and aligning stakeholders with diverse needs
- A minimum 3 years of demonstrated leadership (could include people, strategic project and/or process leadership)
- Experience with implementing and sustaining programs in a global organization
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written, including a demonstrated ability to successfully navigate intellectual property, legal and business waterlines
- Highly tolerant of and able to navigate uncertainty, with a strong ability to pull clarity, simplicity and actionable insights from complexity
- Strong risk/benefit analysis skills, including the ability to understand the potential impacts of changing external environments and market trends on business strategies
- Fluency in English
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in public speaking and engaging with diverse external audiences, from technical/regulatory to NGO
- Experience in representing organizations in trade associations or standards setting groups
- Familiar with and well-networked in relevant industries
