About the Role: In the Performance Solution Division (PSD), the Venting Business Group’s (VBG) recent and projected future growth has resulted in substantial lab testing capabilities in Shenzhen BAN facility. The Shenzhen Venting lab team works with our global technology platforms, market facing and supply chain task teams to innovate new test methods in support of the VBG’s (Portable Electronic Venting, Automotive Venting, and Protective Venting) new product development. Additionally, the lab supports testing in support of validation and continuous improvement efforts. We are seeking an energetic and high performing lab leader to ensure the current and future developed testing is effectively performed meeting the quality system expectations as required by the business.In this role, you will be providing support and leadership to the lab team, building on Technical Functional Excellence, and collaborating with Gore internal (Technical, Business, Quality and Supply Chain) and external partners in building the priority focuses and effectively get them fulfilled. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Based on input from Venting technical leadership, develop, align and execute the lab plan (Investment, infrastructure, priorities) to ensure sufficient lab testing capability and capacity to meet the needs, includes testing support to technology,  new product development, and sales support.
• Collaborate with the lab leaders in other regions in addressing priorities of common Functional Excellence in testing (methods & execution) and lab operating areas, and in driving the global lab management processes, e.g.:Support the growth of testing/characterization related tests for emerging new marketsEnsure the globally consistent test methods and reliable data regardless of the testing locations, and in compliance with the according industrial standards.Provide local input to the global lab capital investment planning process
• Ensure the effective execution of lab testing capability projects and initiatives leveraging project priorities from the business teams.
• Provide leadership to the local lab team which includes effective lab safety practices, resource forecast / hiring, and performance and development plans.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, polymers, physics or other technical degree.
• 5-years’ experience in lab testing, test method development, process engineering, NPD, Application Engineering or other related functions. Sound knowledge of engineering principles. Experience in developing test methods or equipment are nice additional qualifications.
• Demonstrated abilities to identify critical issues, effective use of root cause analysis tools and implementation of performance measures
• Solid track record of success in developing and activating technical plans, and managing near-term priorities and long-term strategic opportunities.
• Demonstrated ability to work and influence across functions and regions.
• A strong logical thinker, who can plan and communicate with clear logics and make technical decisions based on facts and data.
• Demonstrated ability to sponsor, mentor and develop associates that leads to increasing their contribution and value to the enterprise.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
• Good Gore cultural fit.
• Based in Shenzhen Bao’an plant, with ability to travel internationally up to 10%.
• Nice-to-have: Fundamental understanding of the ISO and IATF quality requirements for ensuring compliance of the lab and testing.  Specific understanding of statistical tools and effective MSA.
