GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

You represent the interests of the US-based CMF Design team in direct communication with manufacturers and suppliers, to expertly implement the design intent of the CMF palette into fabrics, injection molded materials, plastics, laminates, decorated surfaces, etc. You are intimate with manufacturing and surface decoration processes typical for our industry, such as PVD (physical vapor deposition/vacuum metalizing), painting processes (UV/PU coatings), silk screening, in-mold decoration and in-mold labeling, hydrographics, heat transfer, etc. Trained in collaboration with designers and familiar with the world of Asian factories, the CMF Developer acts as a trusted member of the CMF team, with the ability to sensitively manage the translation from the creative intent to reality. You collaborate with the team of designers and engineers in order to capture design intent accurately at optimized cost. You constructively elevate and influence Belkin’s processes through your experience with materials purchasing, sourcing and design and your network of experts in the industry.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ability to track and manage development from concept to approved sample for multiple products at multiple vendors.

· Ability to review color samples and provide competent comment for vendor improvement.

· Keep proper communication with in-country and Corporate U.S. Headquarters team to achieve business goals.

· Guide the practical implementation of products at the factory level in collaboration with ID, CMF and Mechanical Engineering teams

· Facilitate Texture / Finish development at factory level

· Support the development of CMF quality testing methods in collaboration with Belkin’s QA team

· Assist with sample development and coordination of sample shipments

· Conduct material research and development in cooperation with CMF and ID team

· Proactively seek to evolve Belkin’s vendor base by constantly building and fostering relationships with our manufacturing partners and possible new vendors

· Concisely communicate with Belkin’s cross functional international teams to ensure we constantly implement best practices

· Keep watch of new developments in the industry and report back to the greater team to help us stay at the cutting edge of technology for our category

· Familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD processes, tech kits and preliminary documentation to create soft goods products for development in China.

· Frequent travel to Belkin’s Hong Kong offices, Belkin’s manufacturing partners in Shenzhen and other regions as needed

· Adhere to the established budgets and timelines as set by Program Management

· Fulfill responsibilities under ISO 9001 and 14001; understand and fully support ISO system.

· Fulfill responsibilities under OHSAS 18001, understand and fully support OHSAS 18001 system.

· Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

· Understand and follow company rules and regulations.

· Perform all other duties as assigned and required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· Degree in Design or Engineering gained from reputable University or Tertiary Institution is preferred.

· A minimum of 4 years of proven experience in development and manufacturing of cut & sew and/or injection molded products.

· Experience working for a recognized global brand is a big plus.

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Solid proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office

· 2D CAD experience is a plus

· Ability to pass a Munsell Color Hue test with a high degree of accuracy

· Fluency in both written and verbal English communication skills. Other Asian language is preferred, i.e. Chinese / Mandarin.
