General Position Summary:
The design for manufacture engineer is responsible for all aspects of product manufacturability from product definition to release to volume manufacturing. The DFM is an integral part of the product design team and is responsible for setting up and maintaining product configuration management, overseeing the tooling process, validating parts and products meet specification and working with the vendor and design team to resolve any design quality issues before production.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
? Responsible for setting up products in Loud’s configuration management system (Agile) and maintaining product configuration from project start to release for mass production.
? Review product designs for manufacturability with our CM’s and provide feedback to our development team about our CM’s capabilities.
? Review part and finished good samples to ensure parts and finished goods meet specification. Document any issues identified in an inspection report and work with vendor to document and implement an improvement plan.
? Develop and execute a capitalized tooling development and tracking process to ensure project objectives are defined, executed and visible.
? Create a capitalized production tooling plan for each project during the planning phase to allow an accurate estimate of project costs and time
? Oversee the capitalized production tooling quote and selection process to maximize the impact of our tooling dollars and to avoid decision making delays
? Represent manufacturability at design review meetings.
? Work with vendors to design, test and approve product packaging.
? Knowledge of ERP system and BOM construction to create part number and setup/maintain BOM.
? Experience of technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing;
? Design experience with acoustic consideration is a plus;

Secondary Functions:
? Knowledge of configuration management tools, bills of materials and engineering change orders.
? Provide technical support and schedule estimates to senior engineers and Project Managers.
? Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Scope:
Works for NPD manager. The DFM engineer is able to take ownership of DFM tasks and work with assigned engineers to complete the design process.
Follows all applicable procedures.

Supervisory Responsibility: None.

Interpersonal Contacts:
This position primarily interacts with other engineering and test team members, product managers and operations team staff, outside vendors and contract manufacturers.

Specific Job Skills:
? Requires Bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
? 5+ years of ME design experience, preferably in the audio industry.
? Ability to work in fast paced development environment coordinating with hardware, software, acoustic, and industrial design.
? Ability to complete independent tasks as part of a larger set of team deliverables.
? Good analytical skills for problem solving are required for this position.
? Solid analytical and problem solving skills
? Ability to travel occasionally domestically and internationally.
? Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, verbally and in writing.
? Effective interpersonal & problem solving skills.

Education and/or Experience:
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Range: 5+ years’ experience as a design engineer.

Job Conditions:
Normal design engineering conditions apply, including occasional domestic and/or international travel.
