SUPPLIER QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our business is a fast growing European Company with headquarters in Europe. We are a leading designer and manufacturer of engineering components and products for the fencing & gating industry.
We have a manufacturing plant in Shenzhen and are now looking for a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer who is based in Qingdao.

SUMMARY
As the Supplier Quality Engineer you will be responsible for coaching & controlling our Qingdao suppliers and ensuring our orders are being produced on-time and according to our quality standards.
In this function you report locally to the Quality ? Manager in China.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Supervision:
o Overviewing product quality, production planning, labeling, packaging and shipping of orders that are being placed by our company in Shenzhen to suppliers in Qingdao.

- Quality:
o Conduct frequent supplier quality inspections at manufacturing plants of a variety of suppliers in the Qingdao region.
o Ensure a qualitative production organization is being kept in in place according to European standards and according to the agreements the supplier made with us; thereby focusing especially on a respecting the dimensional specifications on the technical data sheets.
o Ensuring in-line quality controls during the production process are effectively being done by our suppliers. You will therefore conduct unforeseen quality visits to suppliers.
o Help suppliers improve their quality organization, procedures and processes and motivate suppliers to continue to deliver a consistent quality .
o Having a proactive attitude towards quality inspection. (How can quality control of an item be improved?)

- Organization & planning:
o Motivating and educating supplier factories and their workers to follow up production planning closely, communicate any delays in planning early and work with the supplier to take the necessary steps in order to ensure an on-time delivery.

- Communication
o Communicate frequently and pro-actively about the progress, quality issues, production difficulties, etc. to the Shenzhen company.

REQUIREMENTS

- Good technical insight, especially hands-on.
- Capable of reading technical drawings, understanding and implementing technical data sheets (TDS).

- Experience as a quality engineer and having worked with a wide range of quality inspection tools and gauges.
- Experience with in-line quality control organization, setup and follow up of its implementation, in cooperation with suppliers/factories/manufacturers.

- Experience with the production method of hot forging, cold forging and stamping as well as surface treatments like HDG (hot dip galvanizing).
- Experience in other production methods like aluminium die casting, plastic injection, turning, milling, etc… is a big plus.

- Good reading, writing and speaking skills in English.
- PC knowledge: Email, Microsoft Office

- Experience in working for an European or US company in a similar job is a big plus.

- Resident of Qingdao, willingness to travel around in a radius of 50 km of Jimo.
- Willing to travel to our head office/factory in Shenzhen to be educated about our standards.

- Willing to be active on the production work floor amongst production equipment and people. (Certainly not an office job!)
- Having the courage to have authority over suppliers so you can push forward instructions and implementations, and make sure they are being respected.
