Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hardware engineering leader of the Harman Consumer Shenzhen Design Center. Will lead a team of 20+ and 3-4 direct reports which have cross functional ties to the Harman Consumer’s Global Engineering development team. Hardware team is comprised of Digital and Analog Hardware Engineers, Lab Technicians and RF Engineering teams..
Job Responsibilities:
Work with the senior management team to build a world-class engineering team ?
Directly lead a global team of digital and analog designers. ?
Responsible for organizing, staffing, evaluating, directing and motivating hardware engineering personnel ?
Interface with product management, market development, and customers to develop, refine, validate, and prioritize product requirements and product roadmaps ?
Work with industrial design team to ensure constraints are met in developing compelling consumer designs. ?
Make strategic trade-offs in make-buy-partner technology decisions. ?
Participates in the vendor evaluation and selection process
Participates in product planning and product proposal processes ?
Oversee the definition of product hardware architecture and system level designs based on product requirements and business model. ?
Develops and implements standardized technology modules consistent with the technology roadmap ?
Work with software team to make appropriate trade offs as a team ?
Develop product hardware functional specifications ?
Drive to develop and protect intellectual property for market leadership. ?
Oversees department’s budget; Reviews and approves expenditures ?
Develop, and adhere to, resource plans, schedule, and budget
Basic Qualifications:
A demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others ?
Experience in Asian sourcing and joint development work ?
Must be able to think ahead and plan short and long term goals ?
Must have the ability to plan, organize, delegate and manage multiple priorities. ?
Must understand our business and be able to align hardware engineering goals to the company’s business strategy and initiatives. Working knowledge of Analog and Digital Audio and Video ?
DSP and Embedded systems ?
RF and wireless networking knowledge ?
High Speed Serial interface knowledge ?
Expert at developing effective design and product documentation ?
Expert in the development of best hardware design practices, procedures and processes. ?
Understanding of software development issues ?
Networking and Ethernet fundamentals ?
Understand the concepts of Design for Testability and Manufacturability ?
Knowledge of Reliability metrics and reliable design issues ?
Strong communication skills including verbal and written communication in English. ?
Embedded LINUX, Windows CE, QNX,FPGA design and Verification - Verilog or VHDL,802.11B/G, IP packet synchronization and streaming audio/video over networks ?
TCP/IP, DHCP, UpnP, DNLA, RTP, RTSP, SNMP
