Job Position: Sales and Operations Planning Manager (Asia)
Job Summary:
The Regional S&OP Leader is the owner of the end-to-end supply chain information flow within Asia - from customer demand forecast to supplier supply plans with an objective to optimize inventory levels while increasing service levels. This position is responsible for (a) working with the commercial organization to develop the right processes, systems and tools to generate a product family/SKU level based forecast with potential future exceptions to support targeted service levels (b) working with the operations team to manage the people, processes, and systems within the organization to convert the forecast into production plans and inventory targets (c) owning a consistent sales and operations planning (S&OP) process with transparent KOI’s, targets , and processes that align with the Global Gates Strategy and (d) identifying and drive functional improvements across forecasting, demand planning, scheduling and supplier supply planning within region.
Primary responsibilities:
(a) Commercial interface to generate a product family/SKU level base forecast and potential future exceptions
■ Work with the commercial team to deploy optimal techniques to improve forecast accuracy at product family and SKU level
■ Partner with sales teams to design optimal demand planning approach leveraging information from multiple sources including customers, industry reports, etc.
■ Incorporate analyses into S&OP process as issues are identified to assist with portfolio decisions
■ Partner with sales organizations to define optimal customer service requirements (e.g. service level, order to delivery lead times)
(b) Operations ownership to convert sales forecast and intelligence into production and inventory plans
■ Ensure supply planning (capacity and inventory) is aligned with customer demand and that disconnects are identified for resolution.
■ Work with manufacturing to identify exceptions and generate options and present recommendations, with cost/benefit/risk analyses
■ Identify strategic/investment decisions e.g. network capacity additions, customer allocations, and present recommendations with options analyses
■ Help ensure actual production and inventory performance is in line with forecasted plans and the same is monitored, tracked and reported at regular intervals
■ Effectively work with different sites and balancing demands of each of the sites with overall S&OP strategy
■ Set inventory policies on manufactured, purchased and sub-contracted inventory in alignment with global policies
■ Decide on optimal inventory levels to be held for all line items (SKUs) based on functional capabilities and update targets as functional capabilities improve
■ Ensure identification and removal of excess and obsolete inventory
(c) Sales and Operations Planning institutionalization
■ Lead the exceptions management process to pro-actively identify exceptions and help business make fact based trade-off decisions in time
■ Define cadence of S&OP meetings and ensure process is followed within region
■ Describe individual roles, meeting objectives, inputs, outputs, decisions
■ Develop guidelines and trigger points for demand and supply alignment decisions
■ Structure and lead Sales and Operations Planning meetings
■ Maintain process discipline, rigor and compliance
■ Rigorously track and manage performance
□ Track and report on key performance indicators (e.g. inventory, service levels, schedule adherence, forecast accuracy)
□ Ensure the appropriate cadence of performance dialogs and corrective actions
□ Put in place a rigorous exceptions management process to highlight issues, define solutions based on root cause analyses and identify and resolve systemic issues
□ Drive for continuous improvements
(d) Functional improvement ownership
■ Lead efforts to improve other processes that enable improved S&OP process e.g. improving order management and customer commit processes
■ Lead root cause problem solving on key exceptions and identify ideas to improve respective processes of forecasting, planning and scheduling. Manage the improvement ideas pipeline.
■ Work closely with IT to develop and implement the S&OP systems and tool strategy
Leadership responsibilities:
■ Provide regular end-to-end view to regional leadership and Global S&OP team
■ Build S&OP capabilities and skills within the region
■ Bring independent facts to bear on exceptions and key issues of the day to help business make an informed decision
■ Partner with commercial and operations leaders across all regions to ensure consistent global S&OP process within and across all regions
■ Partner with finance to align the financial budgeting and forecasting targets with operational targets and forecasts
