Material Engineer – Job Profile Summary
Material Engineer is the responsible for the choice, the testing and the development of traditional and innovative plastic and metallic materials. He defines technical specifications for the definition of laboratory tests, assembly tests to be performed on factory and gives the guidelines to the supply chain for supplier scouting.
Description
Material Engineer works on products development and on advanced material introduction; he follows the Homologation of new components, starting from samples to the production executive version. He is the coordinator of all the processes in which material are involved.
A Material Engineer usually performs many of the following tasks:
? Make feasibility study with colleagues to clearly identify material specifications, cost, development timing, technologies and investments .
? Help mechanical engineers in the choice of the right specs, compliance to safety and costs requirements.
? Monitor supply chain in supplier scouting to respect quality and customers requirements.
? Discussing and solving complex problems with Program Manager and team members.
? Give guidelines to Laboratory to test materials.
? Defines and monitor Anti Value Erosion Projects.
