Objective and Job Summary
The Director, Learning & Development is responsible for driving organizational culture and brand service culture, developing and driving the Learning & Development strategy for the company and hotels we manage. The role will partner with the corporate leadership team to identify and set a Learning &Development agenda that is aligned with business strategies and priorities, maximizes the impact to both business and associate performance. More specifically, the role will:
1. Develop organizational culture embedding strategies, initiatives and tracking and measurement solutions
2. Develop corporate L&D strategy, framework and standards.
3. Provide effective and innovative learning opportunities that allow our associates to achieve their full potential
4. Scope performance gaps and future needs in the company and hotels at all levels
5. Partnering with leadership team, develop and manage sustainable talent development programs to provide just-in-time talent pipeline for the company and hotels
6. Develop and implement company core learning programs to build leadership, management and associates operation skills that drive performance
7. Build a leadership mindset that leverages learning & development as a competitive edge
8. Measure learning & development interventions to determine business impact and provide insights for content direction
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Leadership
? Leads and inspires corporate and hotel teams to reach their personal potential
? Setting goals for the team, developing organizational capability and modeling how we work together
? Identifying and communicating key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
? Analyzes learning and performance metrics to determine required consulting and programmatic changes to ensure appropriate business impact
Planning and Execution
? Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution,
? Develops annual operating plan and budget, and quarterly forecast updates.
? Establishes priorities and directs the work of the department team.
? Plans and manages corporate and hotels processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
? Prepares all budgets, forecasts and plans for learning and development
? Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
? Develops plans to implement learning and development interventions
Business Requirements
? Consults with client groups to assess the current skill level of associates and provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to close the performance gaps.
? Drive development implementation of leadership and functional learning programs.
? Customize the company cultural and operational on-boarding programs to make it local relevant and implement the programs
? Educate training processes, tools and programs to support leadership development
? Imprint our customer service values in all of the training programs and learning experiences we design and deliver.
? Work closely with corporate leadership team to develop accelerated development programs for key talents at all levels including corporate and hotels.
? Recommends proven methods for developing associates' skills and assessing current skill levels and gaps.
? Serves as master facilitator on strategic projects and core programs
? Analyze the ROI of the training& talent development initiatives and programs
Talent Development & Team Building
? Providing associates with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams
? Challenges and inspires associates to achieve personal and business results.
? Establishes the performance requirements for all positions within team and provides appropriate learning and development to achieve
? Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
? Ensures associates adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
? Oversees learning and development of associates directly and indirectly managed and makes talent acquisition decisions that enhance the level of the team
? Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to associates on the team in order to achieve associate, business and customer results.
Summary of Experience
- Management experiences learning and development function in well-established organization for 8 years, preferably from retail and hospitality industry
- Managing various training and development functions
- Proved experiences in talent development
- Leading a team of learning professionals
- Experience leading and getting results in a matrix organization structure
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
? Ability to see the "big picture", create strategic focus and communicate effectively to various levels of the organization
? Ability to establish and build collaborative relationships with individuals across a broad range of functions and levels of leadership
? Track record of successfully implementing people, process and technology changes with impact and high levels of employee engagement.
? Ability to influence HR business partners, senior and executive leadership on transformational learning initiatives. As well as influence without authority.
? Knowledge of adult learning theory and the effective application in a business setting
? Ability to build business case to support learning/development interventions and assess impact
? Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and large scale change initiatives
? Ability to speak and write fluently in English and Chinese
