Summary:
Position responsibility is to fully manage sensory evaluation and consumer research in support of proactive and commercial flavor projects. This includes understanding marketplace, technology, and consumer dynamics for a specific category and integrating and communicating insights internally and to external customers. Responsibilities also include managing selected department programs, and to develop new programs and research tools.
Key responsibilities:
- Fully manages sensory evaluation and consumer research in support of proactive and commercial flavor projects. This includes study design, coordination of fieldwork, data analysis, interpretation, written and oral communication of research findings, and management of the research budget.
- Uses strong expertise in sensory and consumer research to successfully deploy a full palette of qualitative and quantitative research tools, without supervision, to meet agreed project deliverables.
- Support internal SCI Descriptive Panel
- As functional expert leads or participates in cross-functional project teams, both locally and regionally, making significant contributions to project plans and direction.
- Develops and implements proactive projects of sensory/consumer research consistent with local/regional category strategies that optimizes SCI contribution to sales growth through new commercial opportunities and increased win rates
- Recognized as a SCI research and category expert internally and with key customers through effective oral and written communications/presentations. Applies understanding of the marketplace, technology, and consumer dynamics in a specific flavor/product category.
- Manages one or more designated SCI programs
- As a senior SCI professional contributes to the strategic and tactical direction of sensory and consumer research programs within the market. This includes the development of new programs and the development or application of new methods.
- As a senior SCI professional, trains junior staff where requested and mentors SCI staff to optimize contribution to the business

Support IFF Sensory & Consumer Insights category based proactive projects 25%
Development/management of internal programs and research tool development 10%
Essential:
Bachelor degree in Sensory Sciences, Food Science, Statistics, Experimental Psychology or related field
Solid knowledge/experience in sensory, market research, consumer research techniques and statistics
Strong working knowledge of word processing, presentation, and statistical packages
5 to 10 years of experience in sensory and consumer research with full project management responsibility
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong Teamwork and customer orientation skills
Preferred:
All of above plus master degree and strong expertise in certain creative, sensory or consumer research tools. Experience in relevant industry is a plus. Business degree or relevant business coursework is a plus.
