We offer a unique opportunity to play a role in a professional and enthusiastic design team at an international company. We are looking for a Junior designer to join our design team in Shanghai. The right candidate will have a strong interest and enthusiasm for design generally and the fashion business. With an eye for the market offer/competitors and a creative spirit in researching and developing new ideas for different brands. Able to switch to different briefings and react quickly to customers requests.
Will have a strong desire to learn and to support the senior designer and design director in the creation of seasonal products, trend books and showroom display. Fashion passionate, driven, reliable and open to challenges. The Junior desire will have to keep communications with the other teams of the company (sourcing and sales) to guarantee a smooth flow of informations between design team and the other parts involved during material sourcing and samples developments.

Qualifications and skills:
Design education from well-established international design school
Talented sketches
Good user of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Skills in knitting/hand knittingitwear knowledge and understanding would be a plus
Computer skills - in general
1 - 3 years Previous experience in a similar environment
Must have eye for details
Creative and innovative within given guidelines
Good interpersonal skills across the organization
A good understanding of the business & design processes
Good communication skills internally and externally (English is a MUST)
A good understanding of the process from idea to finished product

Fownes Brothers established manufacturing facilities in Gloversville and Amsterdam, N.Y. in 1903. In the late 1950’s manufacturing shifted from the US and the Caribbean basin, to the Far East. First came the Philippines in 1959, then Southern China in 1984.
Both facilities are still in operation to this day.
With a growing international business, Fownes established an office in Shanghai in 2002 to address the needs of its global customers. In addition to offering comprehensive sales, merchandising and design services, the Shanghai office coordinates sourcing, quality control, quality assurance, product development, and production logistics for all Asian operations.
