Function of the Position:
Performs a variety of routine chemical analyses on drug substances to determine chemical composition and purity. Selects appropriate established method or procedure to perform analysis and recommends minor modifications. Scientist III has mastered many common techniques with the laboratory and is able to contribute their own observations and input to difficult projects. In addition to skills above, be able to provide guidance on interpretation of test data. Able to propose and design studies with some guidance to obtain data necessary to resolve issues
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Performs routine chemical analyses reference standard materials to determine the chemical composition and purity of substance. Makes necessary comments and explanations for the test results;
· Selects appropriate established methods and procedures for testing by considering the chemical identity of the sample, its physical state, and the type of data required. Conduction of reference standard continuous suitability use test. Conduction of new method development and validation; · Performs routine statistical calculations. Executes all testing and analysis of data with excellence and minimal errors;
· Routinely applies personal experience, academic training, and technical insights to solve complex problems with the laboratory;
· Refers unusual observations or data to supervisor; recommends minor modifications to established procedure, or the use of an alternative;
· Records experimental data, ensuring clear and accurate transcription of results and calculations;
· Prepares a written reference standard evaluation report for review by the supervisor; 

· Follows standard operating procedures and instrument procedures. Documents notebooks according to Standard Operating Procedures;
· Propose and design studies with some guidance.

Minimum Requirements: 

· Ph.D. in relevant chemistry area, MS with 5 yr experience BA/BS science degree with 7 yr chemistry Lab experience
KSAs and Training and Experience:
· Practical knowledge of chemical principles, theories, and practices, and a working knowledge of common analytical methods and procedures, including skill in calibrating and operating analytical instruments such as spectrophotometers and chromatography equipment. Experience working in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry strongly preferred.
· Takes personal responsibility to ensure work is delivered on time and is the highest possible quality.
· Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written in English.
