Introduction to the role:
The Payments Specialist helps italki students and teachers process and solve payment-related issues with our 3rd-Party payment providers. You will manage payments for teachers requesting payment from italki, solve student payment problems, investigate credit card fraud cases, and help with other payment-related issues. The Payments Specialist is part of the Services and Operations Team to ensure our users have the best possible experience on italki. Due to the sensitive nature of payments, you should be detail-oriented, patient, organized, and reliable. We are seeking dynamic individuals with strong troubleshooting skills and who are driven to help customers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Solving payment-related customer support questions from italki students and teachers using Zendesk, our customer support platform.
Working with our 3rd Party Payment Providers (SKRILL, PayPal and more) to help resolve Payment Related issues for italki teachers and italki students
Managing and updating payment related Frequently Asked Questions on our Help Center
Investigation of credit card fraud and charge back related issues
Assisting Service and Operations team with other projects and operational duties
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Strong written English skills (communications with our customers and payment partners is done in English)
Strong spoken English skills (meetings and all communications will be done entirely in English)
A strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills – the ability to be empathetic, accurate and compassionate
Interested in technology, language learning
Positive attitude and a strong work ethic, ability to multi-task
Willingness to learn and work adaptively across different systems and evolving processes
Experience/Skills Desired (but not all required):
Solid technical support experience
Prior customer service role is essential
Written or spoken language skills, in addition to English and Chinese
