2. Brief Description of Role (i.e. purpose of role)
To create and maintain a Regional Dry Bulk business (China) in line with the growth potential and business plan and with P&L accountability for China Dry Bulk.
Coordinate SIA commercial activities with Sinotrans to maximize leverage of strengths of both partners
3. Key Activities & Responsibilities
Key Activity 1 Responsible for the business growth of Dry Bulk China | approx. % time |
· Provide leadership to the China Dry Bulk business, ensuring that the business achieves the agreed sales and development targets set by the MD China in cooperation with the Business Development Manager Asia Pacific · Develop, with key stakeholders, an effective regional business strategy, including forecast and account planning. · To implement a Sales, business development and marketing strategy to ensure long term quality earnings through Key Account Plans. · Work with internal and group functions to ensure that issues/projects are planned and supported. · Manage cost leadership in the region, especially the optimisation of trucking resources and balance of equipment. · Deliver job cost margin to budget profiles and expectations · Efficient and timely recovery of cost over-runs. | 30 |
Key Activity 2 Responsible for the relationship between customers and our own organisation | approx. % time |
· Provide leadership in customer facing situation to promote InterBulk as specialist provider and business partner. · Manage the relationship with the customer base to ensure their key requirements are clearly identified, communicated and exceeded. · Influence and challenge, when appropriate, customers to ensure that InterBulk is able to deliver a profit on all commitments. · Implement a costing and pricing policy in line with the business and under the guidance of the MD China and the Business Development Mgr Asia Pacific. | 30 |
Key Activity 3 Responsible for the effectiveness of the Regional Dry Bulk Commercial China team | approx. % time |
· Accountability for Regional Sales, Planning and Customer Service · Ensure that business is conducted in a timely and effective manner. · Ensure that productivity and motivation of the team is maintained. · Develop the team to ensure that all reach their potential by acquiring knowledge and skills. · Communicate regularly with the team to ensure that all functions are aware of China’s Dry Bulk’s targets, performance and provide Group briefings. · Ensure that appraisals are carried out for the China and any performance issues are managed effectively. · Control the regional Dry Bulk overheads. · Ensure your team’s compliance with group procedures and policies. | 20 |
Key Activity 4 Co leadership in the Sinotrans – InterBulk Alliance (SIA) | approx. % time |
· Define annual Business Plan with Sinotrans, meeting business and corporate governance targets of both companies. · Ensure smooth co-operation between InterBulk and Sinotrans along predefined targets and objectives. Incl regular reviews. · Leverage mutual experience, expertise, best knowledge and practise between InterBulk and Sinotrans to grow the business as per the BP premises and meet BP. · Work through and with the Sinotrans commercial and operational teams to offer a package of the best combined services to customers. | 20 |

Typical experience / Qualifications required for the role:
· Bachelor degree or equivalent with major(s) in logistics, petrochemicals, sales and marketing, business administration, or related fields; MBA preferred.
· Around 5-8 years sales/marketing experience related in logistic industry. The knowledge of intermodal transportation, especially experience of managing and operation within the DRY BULK logistics sector are preferred
· Proven track record of working at a senior level
· Experience of looking after “ key” accounts
· Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
· Ability and track record of growing business and delivering results.
· Strong man manager, good at managing performance and setting targets
· Fluent written and verbal in English.
