Duties and Responsibilities:

·Leads the Commodity Team as a direct supervisor of buyers.

·Procures production materials, parts, tooling and related services in accordance with company and corporate

policies and procedures.

·Selects suppliers based on a Commodity Strategy that has been developed by a team led by the Commodity Manager

with team members from Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Tool Engineering and other disciplines as

required. The Commodity Strategy includes the suppliers’ capabilities, capacities, cost structures, quality

systems, corporate cultures and other elements as warranted.

·Maintains and promotes sound relationships with suppliers and the business community through strict adherence

with Code of Conduct principles.

·Utilizes sound negotiation and value analysis skills, cost modeling, and commodity knowledge to reduce overall

costs.

·Maintains accurate and complete records and registers related to purchasing activities.

·Is available to work all hours necessary and travel as needed to accomplish assigned tasks.

·Subscribes and supports the basic philosophy of National Association of Purchasing Management with respect to

buyer conduct.

·Continually keeps abreast of new material and state-of-the-art processing methods and systems associated with

parts and processing.

·Continually keeps abreast of regulations, laws and market conditions that might affect pricing and

availability of commodities.

·Works closely with Supplier Quality to monitor and correct all supplier delivery and PPM issues.

·Complies with Corporate and SRS purchasing procedures relative to the purchase of chemical and potentially

hazardous materials.

·Works closely with suppliers to ensure compliance with packaging and logistics specifications.

·Oversees and coordinates ESI (Early Supplier Involvement) process as it relates to their commodities/suppliers

in the areas of supplier selection and advance quality planning.

·Supports and coordinates Lean Manufacturing & Operational Excellence initiatives with suppliers.

Education:

·Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (or equivalent training and experience).

·Masters degree preferred

·Certified Purchasing Manager (NAPM) preferred.

Experience Required:

·Five to eight years minimum experience in Procurement.
