Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

As the manager for the power conversion circuits laboratory, you will lead a team of scientists and engineers at GE Global Research - Shanghai within the Electrical Technology and System (ETS) organization focusing on developing and delivering advanced power electronics technologies to GE businesses such as renewable energy, power conversion, power management, O&G, health care, aviation, and transportation. As the manager for this lab in China, you will: • lead with integrity and compliance; employ practices to foster a culture of integrity, innovation, and performance • apply processes and tools to drive operational excellence • define and execute lab vision and strategy to develop technology pipelines to enable GE growth • drive technology program execution by ensuring technical excellence and deliverables, defining IP strategy, program roadmaps; and enforcing rigor and documentation • provide technical leadership in project execution in areas of renewables grid integration, power converters, power electronics systems for health care, and electric drives • reach out to recruit top talent; and grow technologists and project leaders • build and maintain a strong collaborative relationship with peers across GE Global Research and businesses • connect externally by developing relationships with commercial customers, universities, and government agencies; and representing and promoting GE in technical communities

Qualifications/Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering• At least seven years of relevant experience in research and development with technical project leadership • Demonstrated impact, leadership capability and ability to lead, build and energize cross-functional, global teams in high-impact technology. • Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs and industry trends; simplify strategy into specific actions, make decisions, and communicate priorities.

Desired Characteristics

• Doctorate in Electrical Engineering or related fields • Strong communication and organizational skills. 中心坐落于上海张江高科技园区，占地面积47,000平方米，于2003年5月投入使用，是国内最大的独立外资研发机构之一，也是国内极少数具有基础科学研究能力的企业研发中心。

GE中国研发中心现有研发人员1400多人，60多个拥有世界一流设备的实验室，其研究力量主要集中在以下领域：

• 清洁能源，包括洁净煤、风电、太阳能发电等；
• 水处理与海水淡化；
• 材料科学，包括纳米材料、晶体、陶瓷，材料分析；
• 电力电子和实时控制；
• 先进制造技术；
• 影像技术；
• 化学技术，如导电高分子，电化学技术;
• 传感与检测技术；
• LED照明；
• 交通运输等

GE中国研发中心每年完成100多个研究项目。截至2009年底，GE在中国的研发人员共申请了450余项专利。
