Summary: Analyzes, designs, programs, and debugs embedded firmware.

Essential Functions:
Uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
Develops and troubleshoots code for firmware (IC embedded code) applications.
Work often involves analog and digital hardware and software operating systems.
Typically programs in assembly language and high-level languages (e.g., C, C++, C#, tcl).
Supports customers from design phase to maintenance phase.
Designs and develops robust and scalable firmware architectures.
Able to evaluate, adopt and deploy new technologies effectively.
Effectively communicates with customers and US teams to resolve issues.
Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Works out firmware test plan and test cases. Develops and implements manual/automatic regression test cases in TCL or equivalent testing languages.
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate the activities of other personnel. May oversee the work of one or more firmware designers.
Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
A computer technology related bachelor's degree or equivalent training plus 10 years of related experience. An advanced degree may reduce the minimum experience required, including 5 or more year in designing/developing firmware systems for digital/wireless communications systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
5 years experience in embedded microcontroller code development. Experiences in ARM Cortex-M based systems development is a bonus
Advanced understanding of hardware design, especially the ARM Cortex-M micro-architecture and peripherals. Extensive knowledge of real-time embedded firmware/software design, development, and integration
Advanced understanding of software generation (compiler, linker, make file, scripting languages such as Perl/tcl/shell etc.), experience with Linux environment is a plus
Proficiency with C/C++ for firmware development, knowledge of assembly language coding is preferred
Strong debugging skills and familiarity with lab debugging tools and instruments
Experiences in Windows/Linux C++/C# desktop applications development is a bonus
Experience interfacing microcontrollers to real world applications
Experiences in writing PC test applications in C++, C# is a bonus
Proficiency in MS Office
Knowledge of quality systems and procedures, proficiency with software configuration management skills
Excellent English and Chinese written and verbal communication skills
Ability to co-ordinate between local and remote design locations
