Alexander Street Press is a young, dynamic and fast growing online publisher specializing in the educational market. For example, we are currently leading the market in the delivery of streaming audio and video worldwide: in collaboration with the academic research community we are developing online annotation tools for video that will transform the way in which visual materials are researched and studied.

We're looking for an energetic and talented PHP/SQL Software Developer with experience and interest in technologies supporting information digitization to expand our team. The successful candidate will enjoy a challenging and stimulating role which actively encourages creativity and innovation.

Technical experience requirements include:
1. Required: Strong PHP, mySQL, JavaScript, HTML and CSS skills
2. Required: 1+ years developing Web based applications
3. Required: Database design, development and object oriented programming in PHP (experience with Zend Framework or other MVC Framework), MySQL
4. Required: Moderate Internet IT experience with server related skills including domain management, Database management (MySQL), PHP
5. Required: Experience with unit testing and version control
6. Nice to have: experience in XML, Xapian Database, working with a global development team, audio/video streaming, understanding of Agile software development methodology, C#, SQL Server, ActionScript

1.Nice to have: experience with technologies used in an academic library context, such as Z39.50, Marc, discovery services, etc.
2. Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to interface with internal and external customers directly
3. Required: Excellent code commenting and adherence to standards
4. Required: Strong organizational and time management skills
5. Required: Self-motivated, and able to multi-task
6. Required: Able to function independently and still work well in a "team oriented" environment
7. Required: Ability and willingness to perform production support and configuration management roles as necessary
