I. Background Information
Position Title: Assistant Powertrain Planning Manager
Function/Department: Product Planning
Location: Shanghai, China
Reports to: GMIO Powertrain Planning Director
II. Purpose
There are three main responsible areas for this position:
1. Regional Powertrain competitive intelligence
2. Regional Powertrain Portfolio Planning
3. Vehicle Line Powertrain Planning for FAW-GM vehicles
III. Areas of Responsibility
1. Regional PT CI
- Monitor the industry and competitors' Powertrain related technology trends and product activities
- Lead the regional process/efforts on Powertrain Portfolio Sufficiency Reviews (PT PSR) according to the GVDP deliverables (with "front loading" considered)
- Develop regional PT CI insights and make periodic report to IO PT and Planning management
2. Regional PT portfolio planning
- IO Powertrain portfolio management: by vehicle by Powertrain products
- IO Powertrain portfolio analysis to identify complexity reduction and synergy opportunities
- Work with the regional operating units to understand and communicate their voice/requirements to the global PT product and vehicle program teams
3. VLPP for FAW-GM
- Keep regular communication with JV on their PT issues/needs
- Support FAW-GM PT complexity reduction efforts
- Support JV to develop winning PT portfolio for their new vehicle programs
- Lead the PT Study Requests for the JV vehicles
IV. Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Competencies
Knowledge:
.General automotive industry knowledge,
including Powertrain product and technology
knowledge;
.Good understanding of the major global OEMs'
vehicle and Powertrain product portfolios;
.GM vehicle and Powertrain portfolios;
Skills/ Competencies:
.Familiar with key global automotive
consultancy's database, e.g. IHS;
.Very skillful in information searching through
various resources, especially internet;
extremely skillful in data analysis;
.High level skills in financial analysis;
.Usage of GM's internal database, e.g. GM3PD,
CI database.
.Dealing with ambiguity;
.Team spirit;
.Learn on the fly;
.Presentation skills;
.Leadership skills;
.Ability to stand up for unpopular positions
Experience/Education:
.A minimum 3 years experience with
automotive industry; although it's not a
requirement
.Powertrain related experience will be a
plus.
.BS, but MBA preferred
.Engineering background will be a plus.
