Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Director of Global Studies is responsible for managing the various processes involved in the circulation of New York University in Shanghai students out into the various Global Network University portal and study away sites for semester away study and the concurrent process of students from the portal campuses in New York and Abu Dhabi into Shanghai for study away from their campuses. This Director of Global Studies will work closely with the Office of Global Programs and the Director of Global Academic Planning in NY to coordinate activities at site throughout NYU’s Global network.
Responsibilities
PROGRAM PLANNING AND ADMINISTRATION
? GNU curricular coordination for NYU Shanghai.
? Semester away and J-Term programs in the Global Network.
? Portal campus coordination on study away for NYU Shanghai with NYU AD and NYU NYC and NYU Shanghai summer programs (internships, undergraduate research, courses, training sessions).
? NYU Shanghai in New York and Abu Dhabi as study away program.
? NYU in Shanghai as a study away program for NYUNY and NYUAD students.
? Inbound visiting student programs from NYUNY and NYU AD.
? Outbound programs for students going to Global Networks sites.
? Co-curricular programs of foreign language study.
? Assessment of intercultural and community-based learning.

ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT (Recruitment and Admissions)
? NYU Shanghai students for J-Term, semester away, regional seminars, and summer programs.
? NYU NYC and NYU AD students for J-Term and semester away programs at NYU Shanghai.
? Enrollment modeling for global education.
RISK MANAGEMENT
? Risk management and compliance for global and community-based programs.
? Serve as ombudsman for faculty in relation to risk management.
STUDENT SERVICES
? Oversees outgoing students advising and preparation for the semester(s) away.
? Oversees incoming students pre-orientation and orientation, zero-credit course, academic advising, faculty mentoring, and integration.
? Coordinates with student affairs on student mobility policy and services (home travel, visa, and immigration).
? Student services for global education programs staged by NYU SHANGHAI (housing, meals, health, safety, supervision).
? Incident response for NYU SHANGHAI students abroad.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (specific to programs of global education)
? Financial policy, budget planning and operations.
? Student billing.
PERSONNEL
Hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of global education staff.
Miscellaneous
Other projects as assigned by Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Qualification
? Required Education
Masters required, PhD or equivalent preferred.
? Required Experience
？ 3-5 years academic administrative experience in an American University. 5-8 years of academic administrative experience in student services preferred.
？ Experience working in the ESL setting.
? Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
？ Fluency in written and oral Mandarin.
？ Good interpersonal and communication skills to work in an international and cross-cultural environment.
？ Good problem solving skills, and good time management skills.
？ High professional integrity, honesty and trust.
？ Well organized, diplomatic, details and service oriented.
