The commercial department at Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai is seeking to recruit an energetic and experienced Commercial Officer for a full-time position in our FDR team.

The FDR team is focussing on supporting the commercial development of Danish creative industries in China, hereunder furniture, design, accessories, retail and fashion.

Your job will be commercial case solving, consulting and promoting the Danish companies to strengthen their commercial development in China. You will be a fully integrated member in the FDR sector team, which consists of 6 sector specialized Commercial Officers and headed up by the Shanghai based FDR team leader. You will be appointed to a sub-sector specialization in the FDR team and thereby become the focal point for Danish companies with specific interest in your sub-sector.

The Danish Trade Council in China is the commercial branch of The Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consists of 7 specialized sector teams across 5 locations; Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Taipei and Shanghai. The Trade Council provides access to China for Danish companies by a range of services such as partner search (distribution, sales and sourcing), market analysis, planning and execution of market events, export promotions, strategic counselling for market entry strategies, basic legal counselling, public affairs and CSR consulting.

We offer a challenging work environment where you need to combine independent work with a high degree of team-work. You will be based at the brand new office facilities at the Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai.

Job Description

You will provide high-level consultancy services and manage business development projects for Danish companies in China. You will also focus on sustaining strong commercial as well as governmental relations between Denmark and China.

Your work tasks will include:

 Counselling to Danish companies on strategic matters for the Chinese market

 Developing operational go-to-market plans for Danish companies prior to market entry

 Identify opportunities and execute promotional activities for Danish companies already established in the Chinese market.

 Research, identification and evaluation of local Chinese partners for Danish companies.

 Planning, organizing and executing promotional events and fairs

 Basic legal counselling, such as new company set up, IPR and tax

 Mediating between Danish companies and local governmental organisations.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for a commercially oriented team player with relevant experience in the Chinese sector for furniture, design or retail and where you have obtained a relevant network to draw upon.

Experience within furniture distribution (retail or contract market) is a strong advantage.

Key qualifications;

 Excellent command of English and Mandarin - both oral and written.

 An established network to distributors and/or retailers within the furniture, design or consumer goods retail industry

 Business degree (minimum BA level)

 Knowledge and understanding of the retail mechanics

 Experience in executing consultancy services as well as strong commercial sense

 Experience with organizing customer events and seminars

 Experience in working with foreign enterprises

 International experience, possibly from studies or working abroad
