The Mission

FEI's Information Systems Group provides FEI Company network users the most productive computing environment possible by delivering effective and efficient information technology solutions, support, guidance and customer service in a timely manner.


The Position

As a member of the Worldwide Information Technology team, responsible for the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of the company's personal computers and systems/network infrastructure and projects, contributing to the department's corporate mission..
Responsibilities and deliverables include:
Must be able to support the operations of the FEI Information Technology Group:
Provide first and second tier support for problem resolution of applications and infrastructure issues. Understand and diagnose initial troubleshooting of infrastructure and key application systems.
Take and log telephone, e-mail, and walk-in support requests for the FEI user community.
Provide core technical support for local and remote customer desktops - including configuration, installation, imaging and testing of software and hardware on corporate computing platforms. Knowledge of end user systems to component level.
Ability to work with all office equipment, including printers, fax machines and networking equipment.
Understand the make-up of a corporate computing environment and have experience with medium size corporate desktop support with service desk experience.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office products.
Prepare purchase requisitions for hardware/software based on approved standard or researched exception solution.
Assume ownership of worldwide service desk requests and work to completion inside of corporate service levels.
Own the IT Service desk phone support within the region.
Record and maintain hardware and software assets and licenses in cooperation with the global IT Desktop Engineering team.
Support network and server teams in the development, maintenance and monitoring of computer systems and networks. Update management with systems and network metrics. Including installation and maintenance of network infrastructure including routers, switches, VPN, video conference and cabling topology.
Must be proficient at documenting systems, systems metrics and changes to systems.
Provisioning and working with remote office LAN, remote connectivity, system backup, networking gear, in cooperation with the Global Server and Network teams.
Coordinate local security tasks in cooperation with FEI Security team and ensure the protection of FEI information and assets.
Experienced in managing small Information Technology projects.
Provide detailed management of small local IT corporate projects and appropriate detailed status reporting.
Excellent organization skills, communications skills (both verbal and written); strong focus and attention to detail; the ability to work in a very fast-paced, hectic, and energetic environment.
Specification and installation of network and systems infrastructure and application systems.
Self-directed with good leadership and facilitation skills.
Excellent English language skills next to local language support (preferably multiple relevant languages in the region)
Experience in a global company environment
Participate in "on call" schedule with other members of the team.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
University or higher degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent industry experience.
5+ years experience in a similar information technology role.
Excellent communications skills in English and Mandarin (both verbal and written) required.
Experience supporting customers in a small to medium corporate environment.
Experience supporting and administering an enterprise level Network Infrastructure. (LAN and WAN)
Prior experience managing IT support and IT project workloads.
Basic troubleshooting of routers, VPN, and switching experience required.
Experience managing telephone infrastructure in small office environments.
Experience administering and supporting an (Virtualized) Enterprise level Microsoft Server Infrastructure. (Windows Server, AD, SCCM Server, VMware).
Work well with minimal supervision and demonstrate a high level of initiative.
Excellent customer service, problem solving and project management skills.
Excellent organization skills, project tracking abilities, strong focus and attention to detail; the ability to work in a very fast-paced, hectic, and energetic environment. Team oriented.
Must be willing to travel to remote sites on a periodic basis and be available for emergency or after-hours support.
