Position Summary
The Senior Development Associate will provide crucial support to NYU Shanghai Education Development Foundation (the Foundation). S/he will help to plan, organize, and implement fundraising programs and strategies as adopted by the leadership of the University and the Foundation. S/he will work closely with the Development team on the daily administration, data research and management, communication with prospects / donors and members of the board of the Foundation. S/he may also serve as the point-of-contact for inter-departmental collaborations and external communications with government agencies that provide supervision to the Foundation. The Senior Development Associate reports to the Director of Development.
Responsibilities
? Review and propose cultivation strategies for prospective donors. Benchmark fundraising strategies and include best practices. Ensure donor updates are entered into the fundraising database system. Responsible for record keeping, proposal tracking, and donor stewardship activities.
? Facilitate financial transactions for the Foundation, including following gift renewals, tracking expenses related to gift acknowledgement and events, as well as implementing internal control procedures and review. Determine appropriateness of transaction based upon analysis of accounts’ current financial status and anticipated expenditures, knowledge of University and donor’s regulations, and implementation of financial policies.
? Plan, draft and/or translate correspondence ranging from proposal letters, gift acknowledgment letters, and special gift recognition messaging based on University objectives. Compose and translate publicity materials when needed.
? Assist with Development and implementation of programs and events sponsored by department including committee meetings, receptions, dinners, award ceremonies, symposia, and seminars. Interact with fundraisers in NYU in New York to share information and promote coordination among contacts with donors
? Act as a liaison with government agencies who provide oversight to the Foundation, making sure the Foundation operates within the legal framework set forth by official authorities. Participate in trainings and sessions sponsored by government authorities and professional organizations. Help steward relationships with other University foundations as well as other departments within NYU Shanghai.
Qualification
? Required Education
Bachelor's degree required.
? Required Experience
? 3-4 years' experience in public relations, fundraising or corporate marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience in a multi-cultural environment;
? Fundraising experience in a research university preferred;
? Experience in an academic and/or non-profit environment is a plus.
? Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
? Native Mandarin Chinese with a high level of fluency in English; excellent written communication skills in both English and Chinese are essential;
? The ability to work successfully with internal and external constituencies; keen understanding of relationship-building with strategic thinking and consultative approach to prospect engagement;
? Strong interpersonal communication, listening, negotiating, and collaborating skills;
? Strong oral, written, and presentational skills;
? Process-oriented and data-driven; pay close attention to details;
? Excellent organizational and time-management skills;
? Knowledge of MS Office Suite;
? Travel, after-hours and weekend work may also be required.
