Manager, Health Center Engineering

Overview:
The Manager, Health Center Engineering is responsible for leading a team of iOS engineers, Android engineers, web services engineers, UI developers and database administrators to develop our complete suite of patient and physician apps. This role is hands-on, and requires extensive coding knowledge and experience. The Manager, Health Center Engineering will work closely with the executive team to create strategies, plans and budgets to deliver our products.
Responsibilities:
? Lead the code development of all aspects of our Health Center Products – from mobile app to backend web services and databases
? Engage in proof-of-concept and prototyping initiatives to validate GBI Health Center Product requirements
? Design and code based on mobile development standards and approaches
? Participate in mobility strategy and roadmap development to align with GBI's product vision
? Guide engineering team resources in implementation of improvements of development standards and processes for mobile applications (e.g., documentation, design reviews, code reviews, code quality, source control, unit testing, etc.)
? Support a “one team” mindset that includes collaboration and a sense of joint responsibility between iOS engineering, Android engineering, web engineering and other GBI resources
? Engage with GBI Health Center business team to understand customers’/end-users’ perspectives and needs and prioritizing business priorities
? Provide technical direction and integration strategy in mobile solutions to meet business needs and to allow for future flexibility and growth
? Govern engineers in the design of mobile architectures and application frameworks across various devices and platforms with focus in business outcomes
? Provide SME expertise to engineers to overcome issues impacting service delivery and execute operational improvement initiatives
? Collaborate with engineers and GBI Health Team in the strategic analysis, proof-of-concept, and prototyping initiatives to prepare for utilization of new platform and technology
? Review and approve the high level technical solution definition and design with the goal of providing reliable, stable and operationally sound mobility applications that meet business requirements
? Assist engineers and GBI Health Center Team members in investigation and diagnosis of incidents/major incidents, development and implementation of the resolution plan
? Review and monitor implementation and testing activities (including preparation and validation of test cases, test planning, unit, integration) and responsible for user acceptance testing
? Provide hands-on technical help in architecting, designing, implementing, deploying and documenting mobile solutions when required
? Champion change by supporting the necessary transformation and adoption of effective practices and new technologies in GBI's technology environment
? Reinforce and influence adherence to the change management processes during all stakeholder interactions
? Promote teamwork and cooperation
? Comply with company ethics policies and all other corporate and department policies and procedures
? Maintain confidentiality on applicable issues and initiatives in an appropriate and ethical fashion to ensure integrity of the management process
? Manage and evaluate a team of talented engineers
? Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior GBI management

Qualifications:

? Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering
? Minimum of 5 years work experience in a corporate environment
? 1+ years of experience directly managing software engineers
? Direct coding experience in either iOS or Android mobile environments
? Direct involvement in the delivering of 2+ sophisticated mobile apps that rely upon backend webservices and databases
? Experience with Linux, Apache, Tomcat, Solr and/or MongoDB
? Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008, IIS, SQL Server and Active Directory
? Experience with Cloud hosting environments like AWS
? Experience with code deployment and management tools such as Git and Jenkins
? Must be self-motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high quality work products and working as an integral part of a team
? Must be flexible in work after hours occasionally during upgrade/emergency fix
? Ability to clearly communicate and write clear and concise documentation
? Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure within a fast paced team environment
