Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching and Learning
l In designated library lessons teach students research skills and how to locate print and online sources, in particular how to use the library catalogue and resources.
l Teach students how to identify whether the information obtained is reliable and how to organise their research findings.
l Help students use a range of resources and technologies
2. Curriculum Delivery
l Serve as Head of Department for Library and participate in Head of Department meetings and agendas.
l Cooperatively plan and teach units of work with subject and classroom teachers incorporating information skills and knowledge.
l Support teachers with resources across all curriculum areas
l Collaborate with teaching staff on special events – such as Book Week
3. Motivation of Students
l Along with English and Mandarin teachers be responsible for inspiring students to start reading and helping them to find books that are age and skill appropriate and of interest to them with special focus on supporting the X-Block reading program.
l Set and ensure library routines are established and maintained to ensure good order in the library
l Run events, from time to time, to focus on books and literacy.
4. Professional Leadership
l Actively participate in professional networks locally and internationally
l Gather and analyse data regarding book use and using this to focus future purchases.
5. Relationship Management
l Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
l Promote library amongst the YK Pao School community
l Ensure the library is a welcoming learner-centered environment that students and parents want to visit.
6. Contribution to Non-classroom Life of the School
l Take part in school and community events
l Take the lead on library events.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree or above
· Excellent bilingual speaker, good Chinese and English level in both written and spoken
· At least 5 years working experience; teaching experience is requested and working experience in international school library is preferred
· Teaching certificate
· Excellent team player and communicator, willing to work in multi-culture environment
· Independent working and detail oriented
