To work closely with VNU EA's President to achieve targets and identify new opportunities/business.


Primary Objective:
Through deep analysis of current and potential business opportunities, acts as a key member of VNU EA's management,in order to realize the growth agenda through the acquisition of key companies and/or business assets.


Major responsibilities:

· Support the sourcing and evaluation of potential strategic acquisitions and partnerships; analyze strategic and financial rationale;

· Work with the senior management to validate/originate transaction pipelines/opportunities and provide input on issues that may influence decision making;

· Support the validation or development of the investment/divestment thesis, and ensure all acquisitions are aligned with the company's and business-sector strategy;

· Partner with business partners to build understanding of business/operational knowledge;

· Provide specialist expert knowledge on M&A and restructuring initiatives;

· Lead M&A process under tight timeframes to thoroughly analyze the merits of a transaction;

· Ability to work with external advisors to optimize the structure of transactions to the Group i.e. tax implications, management incentives etc.;


Scope and Impact:

· Support of new business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures;

· Participation in management team;

· Providing support to senior management with project management, research and analysis of acquisitions and joint ventures;

· Strong relationships with third-parties (especially organizers);



Technical /Professional Skills & Competencies:

· Ability to quickly gain extensive knowledge of VNU EA's strategy, markets, projects and competitive landscape;

· Broad M&A origination and execution experience, ideally obtained in a professional services firm and media environment;

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills (probability modeling, negotiation tactics, etc.);

· Ability to prioritize and multi-task multiple deals concurrently;

· Ability to communicate complex concepts to senior management;

· Customer relationship management skills and strong focus on delivering results;

· Strong team player with experience of working with virtual teams from different functions/regions;

· Strong negotiation skills;

· Strong productivity computer skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

· Experience with statistical analysis packages a plus (e.g. SPSS)

· Qualitative research experience a plus as well (i.e. focus groups, one on ones etc.)


Knowledge, Abilities:

· Bachelors Degree, MastersDegree or JD strongly preferred;

· Fluent in Chinese and English;

· Minimum of 3-5 years previous work experience in M&A (strategy, analysis and execution);

· Candidate will have the ability to run highly complex transactions throughout all stages of its lifecycle with minimal supervision, and provide recommendations to the senior management;

· Travel as required

· Proven track record of supporting the sourcing, executing and closing on M&A opportunities including supporting/ overseeing all due diligence activities and creating post-acquisition integration plans.
