Metrology Applications/Sales Engineer – Job Description

A position has been created for a metrology/sales Engineer, whom will be responsible for the support and training of our distributors and end users in the effective use of the Vision Engineering Metrology and inspection products. The Applications/Sales Engineer is to provide sales and application solutions to end-users and distributors and will also be expected to carry out demonstrations, calibrations and basic servicing of the equipment.

The candidate will be based at our office in Shanghai, China and will report directly to the General Manager of the Shanghai Representative Office. The candidate will be expected to travel within China, as well as some travel to Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and other countries in the Asia area, possibly including India. Travel to the UK for training and meetings will also be necessary, as and when required.

The ideal candidate must be ambitious, motivated and have a proven track record in sales and customer support, with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering. A reasonable level of metrology, CMM and PC technical knowledge will be required. A good understanding of the operation and usage of Windows and Office suite will also be required. Preference will be given to candidates who have had exposure to microscopes and/or optical measuring systems. It is imperative that the candidate is able to communicate in both Chinese and English.

Duties to include:-
· Conduct product demonstrations and training of both hardware and software, for both end-users and distributors
· Provide first line technical support – face to face; telephonically or via email
· Analyse customer problems and applications for precision measuring instruments and other Vision products
· Provide instructions to and answer technical questions from end-users, distributors and other Vision Engineering personnel
· Assist in correction of software problems when they arise
· Liaise with the UK head office on, application, software and/or hardware issues
· Participate in product training sessions
· Participate in tradeshows for both Vision Engineering and their distributors
· Other duties as assigned


Requirements
· Graduate with Mechanical or Engineering background
· At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in technical support for precision instruments
· Some optical (microscope) and metrology, CMM experience would be preferable
· Good communication in English
· Travel throughout China, Japan and South East Asia
· Strong computer skills

此职位的工作常驻地点在中国上海，直接汇报给上海代表处的总经理。候选人需要在中国境内出差，同时也需要去往日本、南韩、马来西亚、越南、泰国等亚洲国家出差（有可能会涉及印度）。并在有必要时，前往英国参与培训和会议。

理想的候选人必须有抱负、赋有进取心，具有机械专业本科以上的学历，并在销售和客户服务方面有丰富的经验。有一定CMM、电脑操作知识，能熟练操作Windows及Office系统。如具有显微镜或光学仪器经验的将作为优先条件予以考虑。候选人必须能够使用中文和英语进行沟通交流。

工作内容包括：
· 为最终用户和分销商进行产品和相关软件的演示
· 提供一线的技术支持——面对面；电话或是邮件
· 分析客户的问题、精密测量系统的应用和英国Vision其他产品
· 为最终用户提供指导，回答技术方面的问题
· 当遇到软件问题时协助解决
· 针对应用、软件和硬件问题联系英国总部
· 参与产品培训
· 参与英国Vision和分销商的展会
· 其他上级指定的工作
职位要求
· 机械或工程学背景
· 至少有2-3年精密仪器的技术支持
· 具有光学和/或测量（显微镜）和机械、CMM经验更佳
· 良好的英语交流能力
· 能在中国境内，日本和东南亚出差
· 良好的电脑基础
