Responsibilities

• Design Management: Manage external design consultants, including foreign architect, Local Design Institute, curtain wall consultant, landscape designers, lighting designer, etc. Coordinate between design team in US headquarter and Shanghai project team. Review design documents and attend design meetings to ensure design content is complete and well coordinated per owner/developer requirements, and design deliverables are prepared in accordance with milestones identified in the construction schedule;
• Concept & detail design: Ensure design directives from the owner/developer are complete and clearly understood by the design consultants;
• Design development: make sure DD documents are completed on schedule and accurately by design consultants;
• Oversee design implementation during construction: Make sure design intent is accurately implemented by the contractor. Coordinate with the architect and LDI to provide design clarification documentation;
• Shop drawing review: Review shop drawing submitted by contractor, ensure the drawings meet design objectives and construction standards;
• Site Construction Administration: Coordinate with the architect and LDI representatives to solve design related issues throughout the construction phase ;
• Coordinate and check the as-built drawings with designers and contractors after construction work is completed;
• Design Contracts: Assist Construction Director with design contracts administration, including assessment of monthly progress payments;
• Support to other departments: Closely work with the construction managers to accurately coordinate design elements, assist other internal departments responsible for items such as government approvals, MEP, sales & marketing, etc.

Requirements

• Relevant Experience in large scale mixed-use design and construction with specific experience in commercial, office, hotel and luxury apartments in Shanghai.
• Well organized, capable of displaying effective coordination and management skills.
• Strong communication skills, relevant experiences with foreign architects and international design consultants.
• Motivated individual with good personality and excellent interpersonal skills, having team spirit
• Minimum 10 years experience in design and construction, and the ability to demonstrate experience with the items listed under Responsibilities.
• Experience in China design institute and foreign developer. Proven international practice experience preferred.
• Fluent verbal and written language skills in both Mandarin and English.
• Proficient knowledge of Chinese/Shanghai local building codes, construction practices and design approval process and requirements.
• Good computer skills (AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, etc)
