Job summary
The person hired for the position of New Product & Sample project leader will be responsible to support the sales, product development and operations team with inventing, making and structuring new products.
Handling all technical product related tasks and functions from design concept to sample approval between the different departments.
Duties and Responsibilities

1. Spend substantial time in production and working with production staff creating new prototypes/ samples
2. Build, implement and maintain an accurate sample database/ storage system
3. Work with the Sales and Design department to translate the client’s needs into an actual sample
4. Work with the Sourcing/ Purchasing and Operations department to determine cost of samples as well as bulk production of the new products
5. Lead the sample and new product development meeting
6. Receiving and clarification of technical/product design input
7. Translating design brief into technical product specification
8. Providing technical briefing and direction to the sourcing manager or supplier
9. Assisting in nomination of raw materials when applicable
10. Prototype and size set fittings, review and evaluation reporting, as well as clear communication to sourcing manager or suppliers
11. Approval and documentation of the finished samples, finished samples to represent adequate and achievable quality standard reference
12. Ongoing clarification and technical issue resolution during product development process across all stakeholders
13. Providing technical input and assistance to the sample operator(s) and supplier when necessary
14. Identifying and escalating high risk, high complex products and highlight special samples to ensure special handling
15. Value and Product Engineering to support cost competitiveness
16. Provide technical support if necessary during bulk production in regards to commercial quality approval remediation.
17. Development a Maintenance on Technical Manuals and Standards
The ideal candidate meets following criteria
Education
Required - Bachelor's Degree in preferably Textile Technology and Engineering, Fashion Design and Functional Textiles, Textile Material and Textiles Design is preferred. Masters or MBA is a plus

Experience
Above 3 years' experience with new product development in the textile industry (e.g. merchandiser, textile engineer, new product & sample developer/ manager)
Familiar with fabric printing, cutting, sewing operations
Some ERP operating experience
Project management skills

Language
Excellent English and Mandarin skills (write, listen and speak)

Working Conditions
Involves working in general manufacturing conditions where there are frequently moving products. These conditions also include working in an area where there is moderate noise from the manufacturing processes present and without air conditioning.
