Pactics Shanghai (www.pactics.com) is a multinational company that specializes in microfiber products (pouches and cloths) for the eyewear industry.
Pactics employs 250 people in Shanghai, China and another 120 people in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Pactics customers are major eyewear brands like: Oakley, Ray Ban, Electric and luxury brands as: Prada, Bvlgary, D&G, Tiffany, Armani, etc. Pactics produces over 40 million products a year and exports to North America and Europe.

Pactics has started automating a number of the labor intensive processes for the factory in Shanghai, to combat the rising labor costs in China.
A number of automation projects have already been successfully completed with the help of interns from the Netherlands (Avans Breda and Fontys Eindhoven).
Pactics is looking for one or two interns (mechatronics or mechanical engineering) for the next project: Automated Embossing.

Project Description:
Embossing is a process where a hot mold is pressed into the fabric to create an imprint of the brand logo. In the current process the fabric is cut into individual cloth of (150 x 150 mm) and then by hand put under a mold that is moved down by a pneumatic cylinder. This process requires 2 people per machine.
The new process will first cut a roll of fabric with a width of 1800 mm into smaller rolls of 150 mm each. This is done on an existing slitting machine. Each roll will have a length of 160 m.
The plan is to build a feeding mechanism of the embossing machine that will transport the cloth from the roll on a table. The next step is that the mold will come down to make the embossing and that at the same time the cloth is cut by a knife.
The project is the development of this feeding and cutting process on an existing embossing machine. This will be a combination of mechanic engineering and electronic to develop the program to control the machine. The development will be done together with a Chinese supplier in Shanghai that has worked on other automation project with Pactics.

面对中国不断增长的人力成本，珮柯将逐步推进生产自动化，目前已率先在上海工厂展开，很大程度上要归功于来自荷兰Avans Breda 和 Fontys Eindhoven的实习生。
为此，珮柯致力于寻找新的机电一体化或机械工程的实习生，为展开下一个项目 - 烫金自动化做准备。

项目描述
烫金具体指通过热模具将品牌标志烫印到布料上。目前，我们在每块150*150毫米的布上通过人工控制气缸向下压膜，整个过程需要2人完成。
我们想改进成先将一卷宽1800毫米的布切成宽150毫米、长160毫米的小卷布（这会由现有的分条机完成）。
计划开发一个含传输功能的烫金机。在把布移送到桌面上后，模具进行烫金并将布切成所需的大小。
本项目主要是在现有烫金机的基础上增加运送和切割布料的功能。为此，我们需要机电一体化和机械工程专业的实习生与珮柯上海的中国供应商共同合作研发。
