We are Platform Team in eBay - Raptor Core and Services

Raptor is the primary and preferred Java development platform at eBay.
It consists of a light-weight framework that is built on top of Spring framework and takes advantage a set of Open-source projects to help develop Web Applications, SOAP & REST Services, Messaging and Batch Applications.

It comes with an entire ecosystem that is geared toward maximizing productivity for developers and enabling business agility.
It includes a rich set of End-2-End experiences for agile application development, builds, testing, provisioning compute on demand and deployment of applications in a cloud infrastructure, in a standardized manner. The framework integrates well with eBay's key infrastructure services, that provide easy hooks into application logging, reporting, monitoring and alerting.

As members of Raptor Core and Services, we dedicate ourselves to enriching the tech stacks and develop the key services to improve our app developers' productivity. In additional to Java and Scala, we supported doing development by two more stacks, Node.js and PHP in last year. (Python and Ruby are on the way) In the meantime, we are the owner development team of the Resource and Config framework in eBay. Another key product in the team is eBay Site Speed Monitor which adopted Hadoop tech. Compare with App team, we focus more on exploit cutting edge technologies, performance tuning and scalability.

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field is required. Masters degree is preferred

• 8+ years of progressive experience with platform development with exposure to as many of the following technologies:

• Java and/or JVM based languages such as Scala

• Web frameworks/technologies (JSP, JSF)

• Application servers (Geronimo, Glassfish, JBoss)

• Scripting languages (JavaScript, Python)

• Contemporary and emerging platforms - Node.js, Play

• Multiple OS (Windows, Linux, Mac)

• Eclipse

• SCM systems - preferably Git

• OSGI

• Build management tools (Maven, Ivy)

• Excellent English communication skills with both non-technical designers and software engineers.

• Ability to self-organize and work effectively within a small team with minimal supervision

• Strong customer orientation

• Good time management and be able to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities
